Environmental treatment in Binh Duong ensures for development process

Promoting internal force

Binh Duong is famous for rapid and stable pace of economic growth but behind the highlighted achievement is a burden of many problems such as population increase of over 10% per year, downgrade of traffic network, accommodation, schooling and healthcare and other social issues.

Of these, environment is one of urgent problems in dire need of resettlement. “Urban flooding situation and environmental pollution have become a concern of big urban areas such as Ha Noi, HCMC and so on. Source for investment, managerial capacity and manpower for environmental protection have become a big challenge for localities”, said Cao Lai Quang, vice minister of Construction.

By its internal force, Binh Duong has continued finding out initiatives to create advantaged business environment, investment attraction, urban and economic development in the green-clean and beautiful trend. “Binh Duong Water Supply and Environment Company (Biwase) specifies its responsibility in protecting and cleaning environment in service for investment attraction and local socio-economic development. The company’s workgroup and employees have made greater efforts to seek out and choose technologies in service for its important tasks. Thu Dau Mot water waste treatment factory, Nam Binh Duong solid water waste treatment plant are the biggest advanced plants in Vietnam so far. This result is thanks to assistance of the Government, ministries, agencies, international sponsors, provincial leaders and unity of the company staff”, Biwase general director Nguyen Van Thien said.

Taking advantage of external force

According to Cao Lai Quang, deputy minister of Construction, amid shortcomings of economy and shortage of skilled manpower, selection of technology for waste treatment remains limited. Meanwhile, Finland has brought many important projects of technical infrastructure facility to Vietnam. These projects have created high efficiency for Vietnam’s socio-economic development. This is really good marks in cooperation relations between Vietnam and Finland.

Kimmo Lahdevirta, Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Finland said that Binh Duong is a locality leading Vietnam in industrial development process and is an address of many companies and important industrial parks. Therefore, volume of solid waste and other wastes in dire need of treatment increases along. According to requirement of Vietnamese government and suggestion of Binh Duong provincial administration, Finland has supported to Nam Binh Duong solid waste treatment project. “I believe that Biwase along with technical support of Ferroplan Finland will effectively run the plant and reproduce wastes to contribute positively to environment and bring interests to the community and locality.

The ambassador also affirmed that the two nations will reinforce cooperation on high technology renovation and green development as well as focus on spreading images of Vietnam in general and Binh Duong in particular to Finland companies.

Bui Cach Tuyen, deputy minister of Natural Resources and Environment said that Binh Duong has won noteworthy achievements in socio-economic development and improved local people’s material and spiritual life. Under the provincial leaders’ attention, Biwase Company has invested in the complex of solid waste treatment with advanced technologies. Binh Duong has basically ensured environmental protection work, taking advantage of material source from wastes to reproduce environmentally friendly products. This is an honor worthy deed and should be expanded.

Kimmo Lahdevirta, Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Finland added that Finland is one of the first nations supplying development aids for Vietnam. The aids include poverty reduction program, clean water and environmental sanitation and many more. This year we mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Finland with friendship, cooperation and success. We have to cooperate together to develop new creative cooperation forms. Finland embassy will make greater efforts to spur win-win activities. We are very proud of contributing to Vietnam’s development through cooperation activities.
