Update: 10-10-2022 | 15:16:42

Completing the task of building a new countryside, and continuing to meet advanced standards and models is an important goal set by Bac Tan Uyen district until 2030. Implementation of the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program is one of the important solutions contributing to achieve such goal.

According to criterion number 13 in the national set of criteria for newly-advanced rural communes for 2021-2025, localities that have registered to meet the standards need to implement the OCOP Program. In which, for the collective economic sector and cooperatives hold a particularly important position. Over the past time, many cooperatives have succeeded in developing typical products in the area -products that are rated OCOP 3 and 4 stars. Names can be mentioned as Tan My Fruit Cooperative at Tan My commune, Nam Hang Agricultural Trade and Service Cooperative at Lac An commune, Hung Thuan General Cooperative at Tan My commune and Tan Dinh commune, Dong Thuan Phat Agricultural Cooperative at Thuong Tan commune, Dan Tien Cooperative at Tan Dinh commune among others. The typical cooperatives are an example to demonstrate that the area is a suitable area for cooperatives to make great contributions to the district's OCOP, increasing incomes for members, and creating jobs for locals. The effective operation of cooperatives, in addition to ensuring production organization criteria, also contributes to income criteria in new rural construction.

Ecotourism products of Sol Retreat Farm at Hieu Liem commune are eligible to participate in the provincial OCOP program, contributing to the successful construction of a new countryside in the locality. In the photo: Tourists visit and experience at Sol Retreat Farm

In addition, in the construction of new rural areas, the district is also interested in developing OCOP products for businesses and individuals. Many economic models bring high efficiency, from the model of growing fruit trees according to VietGAP and organic standards to the models of free-range chicken raising, high-tech chicken and duck farming, cow husbandry, and cultivation of mushrooms and jackfruits and  rearing of fish etc. have opened up more directions for economic development as well as increased people's income, which is the basis for the development of OCOPs.

Some gardeners in Hieu Liem and Dat Cuoc communes not only provide high-quality agricultural products but also become destinations in the near future for tourists to experience and explore such as Sol Retreat Farm and Green Hill Farm. In the 2022 OCOP program, in addition to the main products of citrus fruits, the district also has the presence of ecotourism products - a unique feature for the OCOPs of the home district.

“Every time we come to Sol Retreat Farm at Hieu Liem commune, we feel relaxed and peaceful. Taking advantage of its favorable geographical location, mild climate and abundant fruit products on a total area of 10 hectares, Sol Retreat Farm offers visitors wonderful moments of relaxation and interesting discoveries. Coming here, guests can experience services such as taking pictures with the windmill, Bali's sky gate, magic mirror etc. or enjoy unique drinks and diverse dishes at the small shop located on the farm premises. Here, visitors can visit pomelo and pepper gardens, and directly experience the feeling of being a farmer.”

Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu, owner of the farm happily said: “Currently, the farm has basically completed the infrastructure, landscape and services and will develop to become more and more professional. In 2022 Sol Reatreat Farm participated in the OCOP Program for eco-tourism products and was evaluated and graded by Bac Tan Uyen district to score and submit a dossier to participate at the provincial level. The OCOP recognized ecotourism product will mark another successful turning point for the farm, which is also a great motivation for us to continue to invest in production and business, improve service quality as well as position the brand and attract tourists; at the same time, contributing to the process of building new and enhanced rural areas of the locality."

It can be seen that the new rural construction program has been widely and effectively deployed in Bac Tan Uyen district, which has changed the face of rural areas in localities. The face of the countryside is more and more prosperous as electricity, roads, schools and stations are well invested into, and the economic and cultural life of the people has been remarkably improved. According to the district New Rural Development Program Steering Committee, the above positive results were achieved thanks to the joint efforts and consensus of the government and the people. The program has created a positive change in people's lives, and rural areas are planned towards comprehensive development.

In the coming time, the district will continue to promote propaganda about OCOP in association with the implementation of new rural construction; thereon, encouraging and calling for businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas, encouraging the sustainable development of the collective economy, focusing on guiding the establishment and maintenance of new-type cooperatives, supporting and facilitating the formation of value chains from production to processing and consumption.

Seven out of eight communes in Bac Tan Uyen district are currently recognized as meeting advanced rural standards. The district strives that by 2024, 100% of communes will gain the newly-advanced rural standard, by 2025, the district will reach the newly-advanced rural standard with more than 50% of communes meeting the standards of at least one new rural model. By 2030, all the communes will have a new rural model with OCOPs of 3 stars or more - an average of 3 products a commune or town; the district has at least 5 5-star OCOPs.
