Global Innovation Forum 2018 to create a network of innovative ideas

With the participation of internationally renowned speakers, the 2018 Global Innovation Forum, which is part of a series of events at the 2018 WTA Summit, will discuss strategies and policies on how to operate and improve the city's competitiveness as an important tool for sustainable development, as well as to make future development proposals.

To develop science and technology associated with reality

In recent years, the Party and State have had many policies and guidelines to accelerate the development of science technology and innovation. The most important achievement of the last two years was Vietnamese global innovation index increased by 14 grades to 45/126 countries and economies.

In Binh Duong, the deployment of a smart city with a human foundation is the concretization of the Party's and the State's guidelines and the Prime Minister's direction. Binh Duong Smart City has been appreciated by the international community for its solid foundations, including people, space, infrastructure... Most importantly, the vision and general objective of socio-economic development was oriented towards systematic and effective manner.

In order to build a smart city, Binh Duong set many key tasks, in which the center is to invest and improve educational quality, strengthen research activities and develop science and technology tied to reality, stimulate economy, technology. In addition, the province also pays much attention to entrepreneurship, especially among young people, by setting up infrastructure for business incubators, creative space, and experimental space for creative ideas ...

Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Director of Department of Science and Technology, said: "At the 2018 Global Innovation Forum, we will discuss strategies and policies on how to operate and heighten competitiveness of the city as an important tool for sustainable development, as well as make suggestions for future development. In particular, we will focus on identifying the core challenges and necessary institutions to countries in the development stage to build an innovative ecosystem for a smart city”.

To connect intellectual resources

According to Department of Science and Technology, at the 2018 Global Innovation Forum, sessions emphasized a wide range of topics related to opportunities and challenges in smart city development, innovative strategies for a more intelligent development; Opportunities and challenges facing the future environment and sustainable energy, the building of smart city platforms and innovative ecosystem... Participants of the forum will be high-profile international speakers from research institutes, universities, international organizations ...

At the inaugural event of the 20th WTA anniversary on 11 Oct 2018, the main speech will address issues of "Turning towards a better city: smart city". Plenary session 1, 2, 3 - the focus of the forum, will discuss "Smart City Infrastructure Development Strategies", "Challenges and opportunities for sustainable energy and environment", "Building smart city platform and innovative ecosystem ". Special session A/B/C will include further discussion on specific topics.

Three thematic sessions will be chaired by three national and international organizations. In particular, Session A will be chaired by Spanish Industrial Science Association with the theme: creating new industrial and economic activities from a fundamental science; Session B chaired by Institute of Innovative Science and Technology under Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology with the theme: innovative system for regional innovation and science urban; Session C by Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan (China), themed "Taiwan's experiences in smart city building and innovative start-up ecosystem". At the closing session of the forum, roundtable meeting will summarize previous sessions and agreement of the participants through conclusions of the conference.

According to Mr. Cuong, the Global Innovation Forum to create a network of innovative ways to connect the intellectual resources of national and foreign scientists is a strategy and effort of the province. This strategy and effort is aimed at acquiring a whole community of scientists and researchers in the field of science and technology in general to quickly apply technological solutions and achievements into advantageous economic sectors of the province.
