Government leader hosts Italian guests

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on June 22 received in Hanoi Director General of the Italian life insurance group Generali Philippe Donnet and Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Cecilia Piccioni.

The government leader wished the Italian group success in doing business in Vietnam while stating that the life insurance market in Vietnam boats huge potential for development with a population of nearly 100 million.

With socio-political stability, deeper international integration and full adherence to commitments to the World Trade Organisation, Vietnam offers a good environment for economic growth and the development of life insurance market, he noted.

Philippe Donnet, in turn expressed his impression with Vietnam’s growth  over the past years, which is seen as a favourable condition for the development of the life insurance market.

Generali has achieve certain success during its nearly one decade operation in Vietnam, he said while hoping that the Vietnamese Government and the Prime Minister will facilitate the group’s business' operations.

In reply, PM Phuc said Generali, which is the leading life insurance company in Italy, should adopt suitable operation methods and cooperate with Vietnamese partners and agencies to increase the number of people involving in life insurance.

PM Phuc assured the Vietnamese Government’s determination to continue revamping institutions and policies to facilitate foreign investors’ operation in Vietnam, including in the insurance sector.   

He asked Philippe Donnet and the Italian Ambassador to campaign for the Italian Government’s support and adoption of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

The PM suggested the Italian Ambassador work closely with Vietnam to launch celebratory activities marking the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Italy diplomatic ties this year.
