HDPE in husbandry to contribute to environment protection

Update: 15-06-2015 | 18:18:39

In recent years, husbandry in Binh Duong Province has strongly developed. Aside from economic benefits and job creation for rural working people, some husbandry establishments still pollute the environment and waste the recyclable energy. To resolve this, biogas bag has become popular in treating animal refuse.

Safe to the environment

Biogas, formed from the decomposition of septic by bacteria, is safe to human; however, the construction of biogas system is costly for bricks and composite materials which are vunerable to cracking and erosion. Since 2000, high density polypropylene (HDPE) has been applied in various fields whereas biogas bags have been of great effects.

Mr. Le Trong Khanh, an officer of Energy Saving Department of Binh Duong Provincial Center for Advanced Technology Application, assured of HDPE safety for environment thanks to its composition of over 97% of primary tar and the remaining of heat stabilizer and anti UV substance. HDPE can even be used for storing fresh water. The low-cost HDPE is applicable to biogas making as it only costs VND 50,000 to VND 200,000 per cubic meter comparing to VND 2,000,000 for other construction materials.

Family of Mr. Duong Phuoc Tich at Phu Hoa Ward in Thu Dau Mot Town, under support of the Center, has invested VND 15 million to construct HDPE for biogas collection; thus, daily consumption has been saved up while ordors and refuse are eliminated.

High economic yields

HDPE of 0.3mm to 3mm thick may reduce construction cost by 70% while maintaining higher shelf life as HDPE can sustain the heat of over 200oC and inert to acids and bases. HDPE can assure absolute tight making it easier for all forms of ground. And thus, HDPE is the only material used in constructing high volume biogas container.

Besides, for large-scale farms, the construction of tight container by combining 2-layer HDPE to extract the gas for power generation or fuel.

Mr. Nguyen The Cuong, Deputy Managing Director of Binh Duong Provincial Center for Advanced Technology Application, affirmed the low-cost and time-saving application of HDPE which can also offer the reuse of residue within the HDPE container as uncontaminated fertilizer.
