Despite difficulties, Binh Duong’s agricultural production in 2014 still reached a stable growth.
Effective models
Provincial Farmers’ Association and its affiliates last year continued promoting the emulation movement of “goods farmer in production and business” among members. There were 43,741 farming households registering for participation. According to the result of the year-end assessment, 37,063 farming households won the title of “good farmer in production and business” at all levels or 123.5% of the target set out by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Association.

Members of provincial Farmers’ Associations at all levels also actively responded to the movement of “farmers helping each other in economic development and poverty reduction”. Accordingly, provincial Farmers’ Associations at all levels mobilized good farmers in production-business, fertilizer companies and agents to provide animal feed, agricultural materials…for 2,980 members with deferred payments with a total value of more than VND16bln.
In addition, provincial Farmers’ Associations at all levels developed 87 effective models on collective business or 217.5% of the target set out by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers’ Association. Most models on urban agriculture, services and home industry applied sci-tech advancements towards sustainable development.
The whole province is now home to 22 cooperatives, 254 cooperative groups and 1,068 farms. All are actively applying sci-tech advancements in production, greatly contributing to increasing the province’s value of agricultural production.
Shift in agricultural structure accelerated
Along with the emulation movement of “goods farmer in production and business”, provincial Farmers’ Associations at all levels has paid more attention to those with leisure after harvest time.
Le Phu Tam, Vice-Chairman of Di An town’s Farmers’ Association said that the association has always tried to successfully develop effective models on urban agriculture, contributing to raising the quality of members’ lives. Over the past time, the association also organized vocational training classes for those with leisure after harvest time, helping them stabilize their lives…
With the above efforts, provincial Farmers’ Associations at all levels last year helped 238 farming households escape poverty, contributing to well realizing the local programs on poverty reduction and new rural construction.
Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial Farmers’ Association said that under the Inspection-Supervision Program of the Central Committee of Vietnam Farmers’ Association, provincial Farmers’ Association made a plan on inspection and supervision work while guiding its affiliates to carry out the work in 2014. Last year, the association also set up a delegation to inspect the activities of provincial Support Fund for Farmers…According to the results of the inspection and supervision work, the association and its affiliates complied with the regulations.
According to her, the integral efforts by provincial Farmers’ Associations at all levels together with loans from provincial Support Fund for Farmers, the Bank for Social Policies…have contributed to strongly shifting the local agricultural structure towards goods production and hi-tech application…
