Handover ceremony of new house to Ms. Duong Thi Vao's family in Phu Thu hamlet, Phu An commune (Ben Cat city) thanks to the contribution of the community

 Joy in the new house

Ms. Duong Thi Vai's family, who live in Phu Thu hamlet, Phu An commune (Ben Cat city), has been facing difficulties for many years due to her unstable job as a freelance worker. Her family has difficult housing conditions in this locality. Ms. Vao's is a cook helper at a small restaurant. Her husband works as a builder. Their income is not much, besides she and her husband care for their two young children and their elderly father, who is often sick.

Despite the severe damage to their old house, Ms. Vao's family still lacks the funds to build a new one. Therefore, when they heard the news that the Provincial Red Cross would support 80 million VND to build a new house, Ms. Vao and her husband were touched. Having saved 40 million VND, she and her husband saved more money to build a slightly larger house. Ms. Vao's husband works as a builder, so he took advantage of this opportunity to save more costs during the house-building process.

On the day of handing over the new house, Mr. Ngo Phuong Nam, Ms. Vao's husband, said that without the support of the Provincial Red Cross, "I don't know when my family will be able to build such a solid house like that." Joy and happiness radiated from Mr. Nam and his wife's faces. "My husband's and my jobs are still unstable. And our children are still young, our family's life is deprived, so we cannot afford to build a house. Now that we have a new house, my husband and I will work harder, strive for a better life, and send our children to school," Mr. Nam said emotionally.

Mr. Nam and his wife's home is one of the Red Cross houses that the Red Cross Association at all levels in the province has mobilized funds to build for people experiencing housing difficulties since the beginning of this year. This is one of the practical activities, bringing happiness and encouraging disadvantaged people to continue improving their lives, which Red Cross Associations at all levels in the province have performed very effectively in recent times. After receiving the houses, many families' representatives were moved to tears. They expressed their gratitude for the care and support provided by the Red Cross, local authorities, and the community's contribution. This assistance helped them realize their long-awaited dream of having a stable home.

According to data from the Provincial Red Cross Society, during the first 6 months of 2024 alone, Red Cross Associations at all levels in the province mobilized donations to build 15 new houses and repair 2 Red-Cross houses with a total cost of over 1.6 billion VND. For each new house built, the Red Cross mobilized financial support from 80-150 million VND.

Contribute to taking care of future generations

These days, many schools in the province are busy preparing for the upcoming new school year. For teachers working at Thanh Tuyen Kindergarten in Thanh Tuyen commune, Dau Tieng district, the thing they feel happiest about is not only being able to welcome children to school but also because the school has has a new, spacious, clean, beautiful, and more fully equipped kitchen. This is a project financed by the Provincial Red Cross Society and CapitaLand Developer Vietnam Company with a total cost of 700 million VND. After the construction was completed in early August, the Provincial Red Cross worked together with the local administration and the sponsor to organize the handover of the kitchen to the school. This will ensure that in the upcoming new school year, children will be served delicious meals in a well-ventilated space. This new project has an area of 100m2, including the main kitchen area, dining room and warehouse, was designed to ensure a one-way kitchen process.

Thanh Tuyen Kindergarten has 80 children, all day-boarders. Tran Thi Quynh Nhu, Principal of the school, said that this facility has been received by the school since 2016. Because it had been used for many years before, the facility was old when it was taken over. In particular, the kitchen was relatively small, degraded, and had no storage, which greatly affected the school's boarding service process. "With the new cleaner and airy kitchen, the school will try to have the best meals for the children in the future," said Ms. Nhu.

With numerous important humanitarian initiatives, the Provincial Red Cross Society has succeeded in uniting the community to bring about significant positive changes in people's lives. Results from those activities and tasks have enhanced the role as a bridge and coordination in humanitarian activities in the province, actively contributing to the social security work of the province.

In the first 6 months of 2024, Red Cross Associations at all levels in the province mobilized support to build 15 new houses and repair 2 Red-Cross houses with a total cost of over 1.6 billion VND. For each new house built, the Red Cross mobilized financial support from 80-150 million VND. According to leaders of the Provincial Red Cross, building a Red-Cross house is an activity with profound humanistic meaning. In recent times, this program has attracted the attention and donations of many officials, members, volunteers, businesses and philanthropists. Each Red Cross house surveyed, constructed, and handed over to every household brings joy and hope, empowering them to become more confident and continue striving for a better life.
