Vietnam’s top chess player Le Quang Liem has moved up one notch to 40th place in the world, according to the World Chess Federation’s December standings.
He is also listed in the top 10 of the men’s international grandmaster category.
Liem’s Elo ranks ahead of Judit Polgar (Hungary) who shares the same Elo rating of 2705.
He is also currently placed 4th in the Asian region.
Meanwhile, in the women’s world rankings, Vietnamese representative Pham Le Thao Nguyen is currently positioned 52nd with an Elo rating of 2425.
And in the young women’s world rankings, Vietnamese player Nguyen Thi Mai Hung is placed 26th with an Elo rating of 2272.
