Local socio-economic performance continues reaching stable growth with social welfare guaranteed

The 8th provincial People’s Council officially opened its 16th session with a focus on reviewing the local socio-economic performance, national defense-security in the first half of 2015 and setting tasks, measures for the rest of the year, which was presided over by Pham Van Canh, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of provincial People’s Council.

Highest GDP growth in recent 3 years

The province’s economy in the first half of the year continued developing stably with GDP growth at 10.5%, the highest figure in recent 3 years, provincial People’s Committee Vice-Chairman Mai Hung Dung reported.

Particularly, industrial production value obtained more than VND97.97trillion, a year-on-year increase of 13%. Total retail sales value of commodities and services was more than VND57.19bln, up 22.8%. Total State budget collection reached more than VND17.65trillion or 54% of the central estimates, 52% of provincial People’s Council’s estimates. Especially, FDI attraction achieved over US$1bln, surpassing the yearly plan. The whole province has so far lured 2,490 FDI projects with a total investment capital of more than US$21.4bln.

Mr.Dung affirmed that provincial People’s Council over the past 6 months focused on drastically taking groups of measures under the Government’s resolution regarding socio-economic development, national defense-security. Hence, obstacles on capital and market continued being removed, creating advantageous conditions for the local industrial manufacture to further bound.

The province’s trade-service sector still maintained its regular growth, contributing to promoting the local economic development. Especially, the province mobilized all sources to take care of policy beneficiaries, poor households and workers; well realized social welfare policies.

In addition, the province paid attention to the fields of education, public healthcare, information-communications, sci-tech, culture-sports and tourism. Crime prevention was also implemented effectively, contributing to maintaining the local political security, social order and safety.

Key measures on socio-economic development

To fulfill targets on socio-economic development in the remaining 6 months of the year, provincial People’s Committee will concentrate on drastically taking measures to remove businesses’ difficulties to promote their production and business activities under the resolution of Government; actively review action programs to implement the resolution of the 9th Party Congress.

Many concrete measures on curbing the market, stabilizing prices, hastening construction of key works were also raised by Mr.Dung at the session. Along with annual tasks, provincial People’s Committee will also fiercely take measures to enhance indexes on provincial competitiveness, public administration reform and international integration; review the province’s poverty reduction program in the 2014-2015 period and map out the province’s poverty line in the 2016-2020 period…

2015 is the final year of implementation of the province’s five-year socio-economic development plan from 2011 to 2015. To achieve remaining targets of the plan, provincial People’s Committee has put forwarded 11 groups of measures, including continuing more drastically taking measures, policies set out by the resolutions of the Government, provincial People’s Committee, People’s Council…

At the session, Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Deputy Head of provincial People’s Council’s Economic and State Budget Committee also proposed another measures on improving management work in construction investment…
