Lodging houses of knowledge and gratitude

Youth Unions at all levels have built and maintained many activities and programs for young workers at lodging houses. This has created a healthier and friendlier living environment in lodging houses.

Di An Youth Union carried out a project of providing bookcases at lodging houses for workers in Di An ward.

To spread knowledge

In order to update information at youth worker union branches in lodging houses, especially about jobs and useful information, at the beginning of 2022, Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union cooperated with Nhan Kiet HR Supply Company to present 100 bulletin boards to union branches in the province. In addition, Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of young worker uniting project at all levels have maintained baskets of law books, bookcases at branches and lodging houses to provide documents on law, employment, general knowledge, health protection... in order to help workers at lodging houses to access new knowledge and raise awareness of the law, apply knowledge into life and work.

Youth Union at all levels also cooperates with the police to law dissemination and education for members and young workers in lodging houses. Law education, consultancy sessions have equipped workers with self-defense; prevention and combat skills against drugs and social evils; fire prevention and fighting at lodging houses, businesses...

In 2021, more than 56,000 leaflets, posters, and billboards propagating laws, Covid-19 prevention control were distributed to Youth Union's branches and workers at lodging houses. Thereby, contributing to the spreading of the Party's guidelines, State's laws and employment information, making a drastic change in the improvement of legal knowledge, stabilizing worker's lives, developing the economy and securing social order and safety.

During the past two years, the Covid-19 continuously had complicated developments in the province and its consequences were substantial. During that difficult time, lodging house's owners in the province, upheld the spirit of solidarity, mutual affection, did maximum support activities for workers by exemption and reduction of room rent, electricity, water bills; provided necessities, food…

Tran Bao Lam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: “With the attention and support from lodging house's owners and members, young workers has somewhat stabilized their lives, felt assured to live and work in Binh Duong. In recent years, Provincial Youth Union has given gratitude to lodging house's owners in the province. During the 2022 Lunar New Year, a number of Youth Unions visited and gave gifts to lodging house's owners who supporting and cared for the lives of poor young people at youth branches. Gratitude activities for lodging house's owners helped connecting and encouraging many more lodging houses to continue accompanying workers."

Children's joy

Activities to take care of children of workers staying in lodging houses are regularly carried out by youth unions and branches, for example: dissemination sessions about prevention of drowning accidents, injuries, summer and mid-autumn playgrounds in lodging houses, compassionate classes... Residential areas having many lodging houses have playgrounds built and presented by the Youth Union at all levels to create favorable conditions for children of workers to have fun and entertain themselves.

Organizing committees of the project of young worker uniting project at all levels organized programs to give gifts to children of workers, presented bicycles, scholarships, and health insurance cards. The project organizers at all levels supported more than 3,000 gifts for disadvantaged children and students of compassionate classes. Notably, a campaign named "Sharing difficulties with children - Joining hands to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic" has been performed by Youth Unions across the province with practical programs, such as giving gifts, scholarships, learning tools and stationery, promptly supported poor children in lodging houses; especially support schooling to grade 12 of many children orphaned due to the pandemic.

Tran Bao Lam said: “The work of taking care of worker's children in lodging houses has concerned and been implemented by Youth Union. During the Covid-19 pandemic, there were many children of workers facing difficulties. Youth organizations and the project of young worker uniting project will continue to further strengthen activities at lodging houses to take care of and support children's learning and development.
