Lord Buddha’s 2562nd birthday celebrated in province

Provincial Buddhist Sangha, on May 29, held a grand ceremony to celebrate Lord Buddha’s 2562^nd birthday. Attending the event were Nguyen Thanh Liem, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Nguyen Van Loc, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Education-Propaganda; Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Council; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; leaders of sectors, localities and Buddhist nuns, monks and followers.

At the ceremony, participating Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns heard a message the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Supreme Patriarch and then took part in traditional rituals to pray for peace and prosperity.

On behalf of provincial leaders, Mr.Hung acknowledged and spoke highly of contributions by the local Buddhist nuns, monks and followers to patriotic emulation movements while wishing them diligence on the way of practicing their religious activities, joining hands with people from all strata in the province to well realize the motto of “Dhamma, Nation, and Socialism”.

On this occasion, provincial Buddhist Sangha offered 500 gifts worth VND300,000 each to poor and disabled people at social support centers, associations for the blind…
