Many businesses invest in trade and service

Along with the field of finance and banking, trade and service in Binh Duong province have recently attracted many projects investing in supermarkets, trade centers, river ports, logistics and so on. The investment has offered favorable conditions for local development of trade and service.

In the trade and service fields, system of supermarket and trade center has been rapidly developed in quantity and scope. The locality has so far had numerous supermarkets and trade centers under stable operation including Vinatex Marts at Thu Dau Mot, Thuan An, Di An towns and Ben Cat district, BD Marts at Di An town and Ben Cat district, Co.opMart and Citimart at Thu Dau Mot town and among others.

Aside from local enterprises, Binh Duong is highly appreciated by foreign retail groups. Specifically, Metro Cash & Carry Group has run an over 2ha supermarket at the province whilst Lotte Mart of Korea has been under completion.

Recently, Viet-Nhat Real Estate JSC has built Green Square trade center at Di An town. The VND500bil, 23,450sqm project will include a Big C supermarket, hi-grade shops, banking services, restaurants, entertainment areas and so on. According to the company directorate, Green Square trade center will be put into operation by the second quarter of 2013. once put into operation, the trade center will serve for local people’s shopping demand as well as generate jobs for about 500 local laborers.

Among supermarkets and trade centers in the province, Becamex Department Store at Thu Dau Mot town is one among trade centers invested modernly. With the total area of 12,500sqm, Becamex Department Store has nearly 100 stalls selling hi-quality products.

According to the provincial department of Trade and Industry, the rapid growth of supermarket and trade center system has contributed to increase total local retail up to 30% per year and better cater for local residents’ demand. In 2011 alone, total local retail reached over VND50,000bil.

Together with well-invested infrastructure facility and quantity of export and import commodities with value of over US$15bil per year, Binh Duong province has over years attracted many local businesses investing in fields of port, logistics. They comprises ICD Tan Cang-Song Than Ltd., U&I Transport JSC, Daso Group and so on.    

Most recently, Thanh Phuoc Port’s 1st phase with the area of 25ha and investment capital of VND780bil has been put into operation at Tan Uyen district.

Apart from local businesses, the locality has over years absorbed many big projects investing in logistics from foreign enterprises such as Singapore, Germany, Denmark and so on. Of these amount, Mapletree Group of Singapore has opened Mapletree logistics at Binh Duong urban, service and industry complex. It is considered as Vietnam’s leading logistics area with the area of 68ha and investment capital of US$110mil. Besides, YCH-Protrade Logistics Center co-invested by YCH Group of Singapore and Binh Duong Import-Export and Production Company (Protrade) has been under operation at Thuan An town’s Binh Hoa ward with the capacity of 50,000 pallet.

Furthermore, Schenker Vietnam Company under DB Schenker Group from Germany has invested in a logistics area at Di An town’s Song Than I IP. Recently, Damco, a member of A.P.Moller-Maersk of Denmark has inaugurated a 2.6ha multi-purposed logistics center at Di An town’s Binh Thang ward.

Possibly speaking, the fields of supermarket, trade center, logistics and port at the province have been developed strongly, contributing to local economic growth. This is a foundation to win a 38% increase in  GDP by 2015.
