From socialization sources, every year in the province, thousands of people with meritorious services to the revolution are cared for through activities, such as: giving monthly and quarterly support money; building and repairing charity houses; giving gifts on holidays and New Year; free medical examination and treatment; donating books, essential items, creating conditions for children of people with meritorious service to go to school... Thereby, the life of people with meritorious service throughout the province is increasingly improved.
Joy in new homes
For Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut (62 years old, daughter of a martyr), who lives in Quarter 2, Phu Tho Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, July 27 this year is a very unforgettable day because she gets to live in a new house after so many years of longing for.
Ms. Ut said: "In the past few days, many neighbors have come to visit, share joy and give gifts because of the new house. I myself am so happy that I can't sleep. Without the support of the local government and philanthropists, how could we build a house like this at such this old age? I have two married children, but life is difficult and I can't help them."
Since birth, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut has never met her father. The family has 6 siblings, she is the youngest child. When she got married, she had to work hard to take care of her children because her husband was also a laborer and couldn't help much.
The joy of Nguyen Hoang Vu's family on the day they moved into their new home
Eight years ago, her husband was seriously ill and died, then the family's burden fell on her shoulders. Ms. Ut shared: “The local government takes care of me from the house, gives gifts, health insurance card like that which is very good. Not long ago, on my way to work, I had a serious accident. If I didn't have a health insurance card, I wouldn't have been able to survive. Since the day I officially moved into the new house, I feel relieved and don't worry as much as before."
In recent days, many other people with meritorious service’s families have had the same joy as Mrs. Ut, such as: family of Mr. Nguyen Hoang Vu (born in 1967, son of a martyr) live in Ho Muong hamlet, Long Tan commune, Dau Tieng district; Ms. Pham Thi Xieng (born 1926) lives in An Thuan hamlet, Phu An commune, Ben Cat city...
In the excited atmosphere on the day of receiving the decision to hand over the house, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Vu said that the house was built on a total area of more than 100m2 with a cost of about 200 million VND. In particular, his family received 100 million VND from Binh Duong Lottery Company, the remaining amount was contributed by the family. “Having a spacious house in the countryside like this is great. The house is a source of motivation that helps my family continue to work hard to make a living and raise our children to study well. I don't know what to say other than thanking the authorities at all levels for supporting my family from a house to a living capital."
Be grateful by many meaningful deeds
In addition to building houses for people with meritorious service, each commune, ward, town, departments, branches, unions and some businesses also regularly contribute and support this group through many activities. For example, during the annual July 27th date, in addition to the support gifts from the province and the Central Government according to regulations, each commune and ward in the province also mobilizes hundreds of other meaningful gifts to support, ensuring all people with meritorious service's family got gifts.
According to the Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, on the occasion of July 27 this year alone, the whole province had dozens of new houses built and repaired, promptly given to people with meritorious service's families with an expenditure of up to billions of dong. |
Besides, localities also purchased furniture, like: televisions, tables and chairs, altar cabinets, beds... to donate to disadvantaged and poor families of people with meritorious service. Officials of the labor - war invalids and social affairs branch at all levels in the province also make monthly contributions, supporting hundreds of people with meritorious service’s families with an amount equivalent to VND 1 million/household/month.
When talking about the gratitude work and taking care of gratitude’s families in the area, it is impossible not to mention some units and businesses that have accompanied this program for many years. Mr. Pham Hoan Vu, Deputy General Director of Binh Duong Construction Materials Joint Stock Company, shared: "Upholding the tradition of "drinking water, remember the source", the company regularly cooperates with local authorities and socio-political organizations to perform well gratitude work and take care of people with meritorious service's families.
On average each year, our company carries out activities such as caring for and visiting heroic Vietnamese mothers during holidays and New Year; giving Tet gifts to localities, labor heroes, and people with meritorious service’s families having difficult circumstances with a total amount of about 300 million VND."
At Binh Duong Lottery Company, taking care of people with meritorious service's family has become a regular activity. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Director of the company, said: “On average, each year the company builds 3 charity houses with a total cost of about 300 million VND.
The company also takes care of two Vietnamese heroic mothers, mother Nguyen Thi Ruc (Phu Loi ward, Thu Dau Mot city), mother Nguyen Thi Dinh (Lai Thieu ward, Thuan An city), and 3 policy families, namely mother of martyr Huynh Thi Bay (Tan Hiep commune, Phu Giao district), mother of martyr Phan Thi Man (Phu Loi ward, Thu Dau Mot city) and family of war invalids Vu Trung Kien (Minh Hoa commune, Dau Tieng district). The company sponsors and visits regularly every quarter with an amount of 3 million VND/family, including calling on trade union members and workers to contribute 24 million VND/year...
Over the past 3 years, the work of taking care of people with meritorious service's families has also been actively carried out by Medic Binh Duong General Hospital in coordination with the Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. Every July 27 holiday, the hospital organizes medical examination and treatment for more than 1,000 patients with a budget of up to billions of dollars. Besides, when coming for medical examination and treatment, people with meritorious service also received a gift of gratitude from the hospital. Ms. Tran Ngoc Hien, Director of the hospital, shared: “The above activity aims to express gratitude to people with meritorious service in the province. This is a very meaningful activity so the hospital will continue to maintain it in the future."
