More efforts needed for actual results in new rural construction

Tran Van Nam, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee, Head of provincial Steering Board of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction (briefly called the Steering Board) made the statement at a conference to partially sum up the three-year implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction in the 2011 and 2013 period.

Over VND3.13trillion spent on new rural construction

Nguyen Tan Binh, acting Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Deputy Head of the Steering Board said that under the timely instruction and support of provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, the province’s program on new rural construction reached positive results after three-year implementation. The emulation movement of “All people joining hands to build new rural areas” was promoted by the local authorities at all levels.

Over the past three years, the province spent more than VND3.13trillion from many different sources on new rural construction. The province also excelled at management task for new rural construction and set up steering boards at all levels. It is known that steering boards at all levels organized more than 30 training courses on new rural construction for cadres in hamlets, quarters, communes, wards and members while speeding up propaganda activities about this program.

One of highlights of the province’s new rural construction program was that essential infrastructure facilities were built over the past three years. So far, 12 out of 60 communes under the new rural construction program have been developed into wards. According to statistics, the whole province built 34 markets in the rural areas of new rural communes, 14 of which were invested by enterprises. The system of schools in communes with new rural construction ensured the learning of 100% of pupils…

Actual efforts

Tran Van Nam, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee has asked for localities to make more efforts to implement the province’s new rural construction program, helping the local people enjoy benefits from the program while pointing out current shortcomings in the process of realizing the program.

Also according to him, steering boards at all levels need to speed up dissemination of information about the program for better results. In the coming time, communes under the new rural construction program need to soon fulfill their plans; further implement the motto of “The State and people work together”. All technical infrastructure works must be done under criteria of the new rural construction program.

In 2014, the province will strive to have 7 communes meeting criteria of the new rural construction program, bringing the total number of such communes to 11 in the 2011 and 2015 period; strive to fulfill a target of reaching 50% and 100% of communes meeting criteria of the new rural programs by 2015 and 2020, respectively. For communes recognized as new rural ones, they need to further improve the quality of criteria of the new rural construction program in order to actually bringing benefits to the local people.

The Steering Board has so far announced 4 communes meeting criteria of the new rural construction program, namely An Son commune in Thuan An town, Bach Dang commune in Tan Uyen town, Thanh An commune in Dau Tieng district and Chanh Phu Hoa commune in Ben Cat district.
