National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and his entourage arrived in New Delhi on Feb. 23 for an official friendly visit to India at the invitation of Indian Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar.
A welcoming ceremony for Trong and his delegation was held at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Addressing the ceremony, Shri U.S. Saxena, official in charge of the Indian Parliament’s external affairs, spoke highly of Trong’s visit and believed the trip would help strengthen the traditional friendship and strategic partnership relations between the two countries in general and the two legislative bodies in particular.
Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Quang Diem and Vietnamese expatriates in India were present at the airport to welcome Trong and his delegation.
