Nearly 300 children orphaned due to the epidemic are sponsored

During the 4th outbreak of COVID-19 in the province, 299 children were orphaned as their parents or caregivers died due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The children were supported by the Vietnam Children's Fund with VND 5 million a child, the provincial Youth’s League VND 2 million a child along with the support of other mass and social organizations.

In addition, the provincial People's Committee organized the program of "Long-term sponsorship" for disadvantaged children whose relatives died due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The provincial Children's Fund Sponsorship Council promulgates a plan to support disadvantaged children whose loved ones have died due to the epidemic. Accordingly, children belonging to poor or nearly-poor households according to the province's criteria with a father or mother, or both parents, or a person directly caring for them die due to the Covid-19 epidemic will receive a subsidy of VND 700,000 a month a child; if he/she is attending primary school, the rate is VND 900,000 a month a child for junior high school and VND 1,200,000 a month a child for high school from September 2021 to August 2022. Funding for such support is mainly from donation resources.
