Orphans and lonely elderly people are well cared for

Update: 22-03-2024 | 11:54:20

On March 21, the Provincial Center for Social Work and Sponsorship held a conference to celebrate "Vietnam Social Work Day March 25" at People's Committee of Uyen Hung ward of Tan Uyen city. Attending the conference were representatives of communes, wards, social work collaborators and families who are poor, near-poor, and have children who are disadvantaged in society.

In recent years, in addition to directly taking physical and spiritual care of nearly 300 orphans, lonely elderly people, and homeless people, the Provincial Social Work and Sponsorship Center has also helped difficult and disadvantaged groups, such as: counseling on social issues, rehabilitation guidance for mentally ill people, autistic children and people with mental disorders. From 2021-2023, the center organized 30 classes to improve people's capacity in solving difficult problems in 30 communes, wards, and towns in districts, towns, and cities in the province. With funding from Holt Vietnam, the center provided emergency support to 199 households affected by the Covid-19 with an amount of 535 million VND; supported 59 difficult cases, with a total amount of 500 million VND, including livelihood support to expand livestock production, services, support for single mothers, and nutritional support for children in difficult circumstances.

Celebrating "Vietnam Social Work Day March 25" is an opportunity to recognize, evaluate and honor the noble value and humanistic significance of the social work profession; recognize the role and contribution of social workers in solving problems of individuals, families, communities and society, turning towards an increasingly better society.
