Outstanding families and individuals in voluntary blood donation honored

On July 4, Thu Dau Mot city’s Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation and Red Cross Society held a conference to review its activities in the first 6 months of 2023 while honoring families and individuals who have donated blood 5, 10, 15 times.

In the first 6 months of 2023, the city’s Red Cross Society organized 35 "Zero dong” market-days to take care of more than 15,000 people in need of assistance. The model of "Zero-dong kitchen" implemented by the city’s Red Cross Associations at all levels continued being effective and replicated, with a total implementation value of more than VND 9 billion. In addition to social charity work, the city’s Red Cross Society advised the Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation on well performing the propaganda and mobilization of officials, members and people to actively participate in voluntary blood donation. As a result, the city mobilized 2,647 blood units over the past 6 months or 75% of the year's target.

At the conference, the province and city’s Steering Committees for voluntary blood donation honored and rewarded 48 families and 160 individuals who have donated blood 5, 10, 15 times. On this occasion, provincial Red Cross Society gave gifts worth VND 80 million for these families and individuals.
