Welcoming Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, Bronwyn Bishop, in Hanoi on September 13, Party General Secretary, Nguyen Phu Trong, urged Vietnam and Australia to further develop economic and trade ties to match their potential.
Vietnam wants more Australian support to its firms, making it easier for them to do business with local partners, especially those active in mining, coal purchase and agro-fisheries, he said.

The host thanked the Australian government for its assistance in education, personnel training and construction of My Thuan and Cao Lanh bridges, as part of the central Mekong Delta region connectivity project.

He also suggested both countries work together closely and share views at regional and global forums.

Bishop said she is pleased with bilateral friendship and cooperation in the spirit of comprehensive partnership, especially in education-training with 26,000 students taking courses in Australia.
