Update: 06-07-2021 | 11:40:48

After Binh Duong Newspaper published an article on "Free rent until the end of the pandemic: Open heart, great happiness" written about Nguyen Thi Cuoc in Binh Nham ward’s Binh Thuan quarter in  Thuan An city who has given free of charge for lodgers until the end of the pandemic, the online community has paid more attention to this story, creating a high effect. A number of other lodging facilities in the province have also participated in the meaningful deed.

Nguyen Thi Cuoc shared: “After the article was published by Binh Duong newspaper, I received many phone calls from other newspapers in and out of the province, even YouTubers and Facebookers. I was so surprised when receiving so much attention. I hope that this meaningful deed will spread faster and wider so that many disadvantaged workers in the province can be helped."

Xuan Hung lodging facility in Ben Cat town’s Hoa Loi ward hangs a banner free of rent in July for lodgers

According to Binh Duong Newspaper, Mrs. Cuoc's lodging facility has 15 rooms with the lowest rent of VND 2.5 million per month and the highest rent of VND 4.5 million per month. In the past few days, under the Prime Minister’s Directive No. 16 for Covid-19 prevention and control, Thuan An city has suspended spontaneous markets and non-essential services. Most lodgers at her lodging facility have no income…Starting from the desire of doing charity activities but being afraid of spreading of the pandemic, she has been proactive to give free of charge for lodgers until the end of the pandemic season. In addition, she also visited and offered gifts to needy lodgers.

As July 4 morning, Mrs. Cuoc's meaningful deed really spread when there were more proprietors in the province giving free rent for workers. Ha Thi Phuong, 36 years old from Thanh Hoa province is a typical example for this. She is now the owner of Xuan Hung lodging facility in Ben Cat town’s Hoa Loi ward. Her lodging facility now has 16 rooms with the rental price of between VND2million and VND3million per month. She has exempted 100% of rent for lodgers in this July, aiming to share difficulties with them during the pandemic season. If the pandemic still prolongs and the livers of workers are not stable, she will further consider reducing or exempting rent for them in the coming months.

In March 2020, the province implemented social distancing when Covid-19 pandemic occurred. This made workers' lives face difficulties. Hence,  provincial  Fatherland Front Committees at all levels coordinated with socio-political organizations to  propagandize and mobilize proprietors to exempt or reduce rent for employees. As a result, there were 700 proprietors in the whole province supporting 15,280 lodging rooms with total money for exemption or reduction up to VND 5.2 billion.
