"Pink Holiday" campaign: Volunteers act for young workers

The "Pink Holiday" campaign in 2023 is one activity of the Youth Volunteer Summer Campaign, which aims to take care of young workers. With a volunteer spirit, Youth Union at all levels in the province have accompanied young workers through activities this summer.

Practical support

In order to support workers living in difficult circumstances, Provincial Supporting Center for Youth Workers cooperated with Juha Hair Academy to organize a series of free haircuts for young workers and workers’ children. This activity is held periodically every Tuesday and Thursday. With enthusiasm, young volunteers participating in this program received the support of local people and sincere thanks from workers.

Besides, Provincial Supporting Center for Youth Workers also held a "Young workers’ day". At this event, the center organized young worker supporting activities, such as changing motorcycle oil, free medical examination and medicine distribution, and phone service support. There were also folk games, talks about life skills and skills to build a happy family. Besides, young workers also took safe driving test, traffic safety knowledge training and health counseling...

In the activity series of the Youth Volunteer Summer Campaign 2023, Youth Union at all levels focused on well implementing the "Pink Holiday" program. In Di An City, Youth Union and HYPO Council of the city organized a program "For dear juniors" to present gifts to workers’ children having difficult circumstances in Tan Dong Hiep ward. At the program, the city Youth Union and HYPO Council gave 15 gifts, including notebooks, milk and cakes, to children of young workers union branches in Tan An quarter, each gift worth 300,000 VND. With the spirit of giving all the best for the future generation of the country, the program "For dear juniors" was carried out by Youth Union in the whole city to help disadvantaged children have more useful and meaningful activities in the summer 2023.

Summer playground

During these summer days, children of workers in lodging houses need healthy playgrounds. Understanding this practical need, local grassroots Youth Union increased summer activities at lodging houses to meet the wishes of children and workers.

In Thang Loi 2 quarter (Di An ward, Di An city), the Youth Union maintains summer activities at 3 p.m. every Sunday for poor workers’ children. At this program, the children happily took part in folk games, music performances, and be challenged to technology games. The activities created a fun and useful summer playground for the children staying at lodging houses. This is a very practical program for children to learn and practice skills to develop their talents.

Youth Unions in quarters of Di An city have been actively organizing summer activities at lodging houses for workers' children to have fun. For example, Tan An quarter’s union branch (Tan Dong Hiep ward) organized summer activities for workers’ children at Thuan Kieu apartment complex with activities such as folk games and music show, creating laughter and stimulate the dynamism of children.

In Binh Chuan ward (Thuan An city), the local Youth Union also organized summer activities for children at Phung Thien lodging house and Trung Kien lodging houses. Together with local ward’s Youth Union, 15 young volunteers from Skills Club (Thu Dau Mot University) organized a program for more than 80 children to participate in games, singing, dancing, quizzes, and giving gifts. This activity was supported by workers for bringing the children happy and exciting moments.

According to Standing Committee of Provincial Youth Union, during this summer, grassroots Youth Unions focus on organizing summer activities for children, especially poor children in lodging houses. Summer activities at lodging houses are as a gift for workers' children to have opportunities to exchange, learn and practice usefully during summer vacation. Youth Union organizations carry out these activities with a volunteer spirit for the community and contributing to the good implementation of youth work and children's movement of each locality and unit.
