Potentials of harboring the economy to ports

Update: 07-06-2012 | 00:00:00
Located in the major economic zone of the Southern region of the nation, the current 30 industrial parks of Binh Duong Province have become a industrial production of the nation. Accordingly, the demands of goods transportion are increasing and of great concern to investors. Along with road transportation, the development of ports and harbors has been promoting waterway transportation in Binh Duong Province. A view on Thanh Phuoc Port in Thanh Phuoc Commune, Tan Uyen District Currently, goods transportation for imports and exports is mainly by roads connecting Binh Duong and ports in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province; however, the infrastructure has been of great concern due to traffic jam while enterprises are seeking ways to save up costs and time.In fact, road transportation is limited to current development of road infrastructure and the higher the demands are the more difficult the transportation process is. As far as this matter is concerned, investors have extended their hands to development of waterway transportation. Thanh Phuoc Port in Tan Uyen District is the first ever thirdly ranked port in Binh Duong Province. As asserted by Mr. Mai Huu Tin, General Director of U&I Investment JSC, a joint investor to Thanh Phuoc Port, the establishment of such port shall support other deep-water ports and help to reduce costs of enterprises. Mr. Tin stressed on forming of sustainable economic ports to promote local economy in industrialization and modernization tendency as vision of Binh Duong Province as a major player in the Southern economic zone.Location of Tan Uyen District has been significant for development of ports as deep-water ports are being developed in Dong Nai Province. Apparently, potentials of port development is vast.By simple calculation, Thanh Phuoc Port is located in good position which is 18km from Dong Nai Port, 60km from Cat Lai Port, 65km from Saigon Port, and 110km from Cai Mep Port. Such position is more competitive than road transportation when cost matters. Besides, construction of a port in Tan Uyen District shall satisfy the needs of goods transportation from industrial parks nearby.Currently, the first stage 8-pier port of Thanh Phuoc facilitates averagely 2.5 tons of goods a year – a humble number of port development; however, the potentials are enormous when Ghenh Bridge is innovated to allow 1,000 to 2,000 MT barges to pass by and better road of DT747..Reported by Thanh Son – Translated by Vi Bao
