State President Truong Tan Sang has praised the business community for its extraordinary efforts to ride out the economic slowdown to maintain and expand production efficiently.
The Party and State attach great importance to the role and position the community holds in the national economy, Sang told 100 exemplary businesses in Hanoi on October 13 marking Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day.
He noted that over the years Vietnamese businesses have developed strongly, making a significant contribution to realising socio-economic development plans , ensuring national defence and security, and expanding foreign relations.
In addition, he said the businesses have helped generate jobs, address social welfare issues, and reduce poverty, thus strengthening the great national unity bloc.
The President called on the business community to be active in grasping market opportunities, renovating technology and business administration models, improving the quality of human resources, and building up trust.
The Party and State will continue creating preferential conditions for businesses to stabilise production and surmount difficulties caused by the economic slowdown, confirmed President Sang.
It was reported that in the past nine months, about 40,000 businesses have filed for bankruptcy or suspended operations. Many other businesses have not operated at full capacity.
Businesses proposed that the government reduce taxes, settle bad debts, remove inventories, and proceed with salary reform taking into account actual market fluctuations.
Some introduced solutions for addressing weaknesses in administrative reforms to help businesses save costs and time in transactions.
