Promoting the role of Trade Union to workers

In recent years, the role of Trade Union in provincial industrial parks has gradually been confirmed, contributing to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers, creating a harmonious labor relations and ensuring the sustainable development of enterprises

Increasing physical, spiritual life

Trade Union of Thien Nam Company in Dong An industrial park, Di An town was founded 5 years ago, but has been the mainstay of employees through organizing practical activities to care for worker’s life. Therefore, they can keep their mind on work. Mr. Tran Ngoc Vinh, Deputy Director and Chairman of Trade Union, said, the company considered every worker as a member in Thien Nam family. Hence, management board has supported actively Trade Union’s activities to take care of workers, such as: building 600-room dormitory for workers, kindergarten for workers’ children, loan rotating fund. Trade Union’s fund manages more than VND1.7 billion, grants annually loans to 500-850 employees. Trade Union has also enhanced spiritual life through art contests, sports, organizing trips for employees.

Dong Hung Company in Di An town has also taken good care of worker’s life, given promptly advices on difficulties faced by workers to management board. The company supports workers having difficult circumstance, awards the 13th month salary, visits and gives gifts to needy workers on big holidays. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huynh said: “I feel happy and comfortable to work here. The company has become a big house for us. To me, everyday going to work is a happiness”.

Building a harmonious relationship

Building a harmonious relationship between employees and employers is one of the key tasks of Trade Union. 949 dialogues between employers and workers were organized at enterprises to learn about worker’s opinions and aspirations for solutions. Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung, Chairman of Primacy Vietnam Company’s Trade Union, said, due to building a good relationship between employees and employers, the company had decreased strikes and labor slowdowns. Workers recognized the company’s care for them, thus worked enthusiastically for the company’s growth.

In 2014, Trade Unions of all levels in the province encouraged business owners to give 440,000 gifts worth over VND46 billion to workers. Implementing democratic regulations of the Government at enterprises, Trade Unions organized conferences of civil servants, workers at all levels. 769/769 agencies held civil servant’s conferences.

Implementing the program of collective labor agreement launched by General Confederation of Labor, in 2014, Trade Unions signed 81 collective labor agreements, achieving 68.6% target. In order to compliance with laws and protect worker’s legitimate rights and interests, Trade Unions gave legal consultancy to 4,568 workers.

Mr. Huynh Van Luong, Head of Policy – Law board under provincial Labor Federation, said, through practical activities, Trade Unions at enterprises encouraged timely workers to work and commit themselves to their company. As a linkage between employees and employers, Trade Unions staff have strived to help their unit in becoming “Strong excellent Trade Union”.
