Update: 22-07-2016 | 12:42:28

The protective forest under Dau Tieng district’s Cau Moutain covers 3,652 hectares. This is also the only natural forest of Binh Duong with beautiful landscapes and has been zoned as an ecological tourism forest. For that reason, the management and protection of the protective forest are very necessary and in line with the local real situation.

Potentialities for tourism

This is a young restored forest with the density of more than 3,000 trees per hectare. Next to the protective forest is Dau Tieng reservoir with total surface area of more than 27,000 hectares and capacity of 1.5billion cubic meters. It not only waters hundreds of hectares of farming land, but also is a beautiful tourist spot, contributing to helping the locality absorb hundreds of visitors.

The local functional forces frequently make patrols to protect the protective forest

Cau Mountain next to Dau Tieng reservoir holds a main position of Dau Tieng protective forest with peaceful surroundings in line with ecological tourism development. It has 21 peaks, of which Cua Ong is the highest at 295 meters, followed by Ong at 285 meters and Tha La at 189 meters and Chua is the lowest at 63 meters. All the 4 peaks form up a beautiful mountain chain lying north-northeast and south-southwest. This is one of Binh Duong’s top landscapes and was recognized as a provincial-level landscape in 2017.

Natural resource management

In the first half of 2016, the Management Board of the protective forest well realized forest management and protection. Particularly, the Management Board regularly inspected and opportunely prevented hunting, deforestation and many other wrong cases, especially focused on forest fire prevention.

Under provincial instructive documents on fire fighting-prevention and rescue in 2016, the Management Board has devised a plan arranging people monitoring forest fires at fire-watching huts around the clock while strengthening propaganda work against fire forest prevention to minimize forest fire risks during this year’s dry season…

Nguyen Van Thang, Director of the Management Board said that the Management Board has set a plan on the use of the protective forest between 2016 and 2020 and development orientations to 2030. The plan plays a very important role in improving the local ecological environment, so raising public awareness of the forest protection and development is very necessary.
