Province puts focus on propaganda to decrease traffic accidents

On the afternoon of January 11, provincial Department of Transport forwarded a conference to review its activities in 2016 and deploy tasks for 2017, in attendance of Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.

In 2016, the Department was proactive to set up plans and instruct localities, units to deploy solutions to ensure traffic safety. Thanks to this, the situation of traffic accidents in the province saw a reduction in the number of accidents and injured people. All units under the Department accelerated management, maintenance over traffic infrastructure systems and effectively tapped them; hastened the progress of construction of traffic works, actively contributing to the local socio-economic development. One of the sector’s major tasks in 2017 is to concentrate on propaganda to reduce traffic accidents in all three criteria (in terms of number of accidents, deaths and injuries). The sector will also strive to reach an 8%-9% increase in the number of passengers and goods for transport; bend on handling and restricting traffic jams…

Addressing the conference, Mr.Liem hailed achievements done by the sector. In 2017, the sector needs to focus on solving traffic jams; speed up dissemination to decrease traffic accidents; fulfill a plan on inland port system development; boost inspection, investigation over traffic works; strengthen administrative reform, application of information technology into management to improve the quality of public transport systems and foster them towards convenience, civilization and modernity.
