Province’s 6-month economy continues reaching a stable growth

This was the assessment of provincial People’s Committee at the 17th session of the 9th provincial Party Committee’s Executive Board held yesterday, July 8. At the session, many main measures for the remaining six months of the year were considered and approved to help the province successfully make 2014’s tasks.

Industrial manufacture on high growth

According to provincial People’s Committee Chairman Le Thanh Cung, the province in the first half of 2014 focused on implementing the central Resolutions and the Resolutions of provincial Party Committee, People’s Council; gave timely support for enterprises to stabilize their production and business…All helped the province reached positive results in socio-economic fields in the first half of the year with the rate of GDP growth remaining high at 9.5%.

The province’s industrial manufacture contributed to promoting the local economic growth in the first half of the year. Vo Van Cu, Director of provincial Department of Industry and Trade said that the province’s industrial production value during the period was estimated at more than VND81.88trillion, up 12.5% compared to the same period of last year. Of these, the domestic investment sector rose by 14% while the foreign investment sector achieved a growth of 11.7%.

He added: “Province-based enterprises have signed export contracts till 2014’s Q3 and Q4, contributing to ensuring jobs for laborers…Hence, the province is likely to fulfill 2014’s targets on industrial production and export turnover”.

Regarding the recent incidents, Mr.Cung said that the province has given timely support for damaged enterprises under the instruction of the Government. As of June 10, all the enterprises worked stably. They now focus on making orders signed.

Targets gaining good results

Along with advantages in industrial manufacture, the province also achieved positive results in many other fields in the first half of the year. Noticeably, the province’s FDI attraction was fulfilled earlier than planned. The province, as of June 30, absorbed US$1.014trillion in FDI capital from 83 new FDI projects with total investment capital of US$400mln and 69 extra-ones with US$614mln. Thus, the province’s total FDI capital in the first half of the year surpassed the yearly target.

The province was also among the country’s top localities in domestic investment attraction with VND5.003trillion from 1,046 new domestic projects and 162 extra-ones.

Meanwhile, State budget collection was one of bright spots in the province’s socio-economic picture in the first half of the year. The figure during the period was VND15.225trillion or 48.5% of provincial People’s Council’s forecast and up 8% compared to last year’s same period.

Mr.Cung also spoke highly of capital disbursement for basic construction at all levels. According to a report by provincial People’s Committee, as of June 30, the total value of volume of basic construction works implemented was estimated at VND3.099trillion or 68.8% of the yearly plan…

More positive and flexible

According to Mr.Cung, the local authorities at all levels need to be more positive and flexible in the tasks of administration and instruction to successfully realize the set targets. The province will concentrate on realizing the Government’s Resolution No.01/NQ-CP dated January 2, 2014 on key solutions for guiding and managing the implementation of socio-economic development plan and state budget estimation of the year 2014; recheck the implementation of the Resolution of the Congress of the 9th provincial Party Committee; effectively take measures to remove difficulties, promote production; actively realize support measures for damaged enterprises under the instruction of the Government, helping them restore production and stabilize their workforce.

The province will continue meeting with enterprises to help them opportunely deal with their difficulties; boost marketing and trade promotion, create a favorable investment climate to lure more investors; give priority to calling for fields affecting the shift of the local economic structure; announce a plan to develop specialized areas on production materials in association with auxiliary industry development to welcome the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP), create favorable conditions for enterprises to expand production…
