Province steps up measures against diseases in cattle and poultry

Provincial Animal Health Department has stepped up measures to prevent the outbreak of diseases in cattle and poultry at year-end.

 Vaccination work ensured

 Despite having slow implementation compared to the previous years, the province’s anti-bird flu vaccination this year will be fulfilled by the end of November on schedule, according to provincial Animal Health Department.

 

The local functional force need to strengthen control over diseases in cattle and poultry at year-end

 The total number of poultry in the province is now 1.2 or 1.3mln of fowls. Last October, provincial Animal Health Department provided more than 800,000 doses of H5N1 vaccines for the local veterinary stations to implementation vaccination on poultry at the local small-scale breeding facilities. Meanwhile, the local large-scale breeding facilities always get 100% of the annual vaccination work…

 The vaccination work against foot-and-mouth disease in cattle will be also carried out to ensure safety for the local animal husbandry sector during the period near the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival. This year, the province has received 40,000 liters of antiseptic to make disinfection at the local breeding facilities.

 Speeding up precautionary measures during Tet festival

 From now till the upcoming Tet festival, the province will work harder on prevention of diseases in cattle and poultry to ensure the local customers’ health. Particularly, the province’s functional agencies will boost inspection of the local breeding facilities to discover and give timely solution in case of having the diseases; strength quarantine work and tighten control over the illegal slaughter, transport and trading of meat and animal products…

Ta Trong Khang, Deputy Chief of provincial Animal Health Department said that this year, provincial Animal Health Department will crack down on street poultry markets. In a bid to prevent diseases in cattle and poultry, the local breeders should sufficiently make vaccination work; regularly disinfect their breeding facilities. They also need to immediately inform the local relevant agencies about strange diseases in their cattle and poultry (if any)…
