Province takes good care of elderly people’s livelihood

Provincial Association of the Elderly and its affiliates have taken good care of the local elderly people’s livelihood and well upheld their role in family and society. The local elderly people have also tried to rise up under the spirit of “Living happily and healthily” to set bright examples for their descendants to follow.

Upholding elderly people’s role

Provincial Association of the Elderly has constantly developed in both quality and quantity, according to association chairman Tran Quang Hao. So far, provincial Association of the Elderly has absorbed more than 60,000 members, accounting for 88.4% of the province’s elderly people. 

Donating a charity house to the family of a poor elderly person

According to statistics, the whole province now has nearly 14,000 elderly people in the rural region and they are still taking part in production and business activities. Among them, there are 1,125 owners of farmsteads.

The province is also home to more than 1,127 elderly people known as the owners of  home craft establishments and more than 1,000 others known as the owners of private enterprises, hotels, transports service…

For the social work, the whole province now has more than 2,305 elderly people participating in mass organizations. With the slogan of “exemplary grandparents, parents”, elderly people in the province are now bright examples in new rural construction, environmental protection…

Elderly people living happily and healthily

Provincial Association of the Elderly has always organized many significant activities for elderly people, helping them lead a happy and healthy life.

Particularly, provincial Association of the Elderly has paid more attention to taking care of elderly people’s health. Since early this year, provincial Association of the Elderly and its affiliates have coordinated with hospital in and out of the province to provide free medical check-ups and medicine for nearly 10,000 elderly people with a total expense of nearly VND600mln.

The whole province also had nearly 300 elderly people enjoying free eye exams under the campaign of “Bright eyes for the elderly”. Among them, 100 elderly people with difficulties were provided free eye surgeries with a total expense of more than VND200mln.

In addition, many cultural-sports activities for the local elderly people have been implemented strongly. The whole province now has 386 cultural-sports clubs for elderly people, contributing to improving their spiritual livelihood and helping them mutually share their life experience .

Provincial Association of the Elderly and its affiliates have also paid attention to hunger eradication and poverty reduction for elderly people. In 2012, they have built and upgraded 63 charity houses for poor elderly people…

Possibly speaking, elderly people have actively contributed to educating and building of a better society. They also need to receive attention from all people, especially their descendants to live happily and healthily.
