Provincial Buddhist Sangha advocates the greening movement of Thu Dau Mot urban area

On the morning of August 11, at the Nirvana Buddha Statue Cultural Center - Hoi Khanh Pagoda, Executive Committee of the Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha organized a program to respond to the campaign of greening Thu Dau Mot urban area. Attending the program were Bui Thanh Nhan, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Mass Mobilization Committee; Nguyen Van Dong, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the Thu Dau Mot City Party Committee; Most Venerable Thich Hue Thong, Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee, Head of Legal Committee of the Central  Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee; representatives of departments, branches, and sectors of the province, Thu Dau Mot City; monks, nuns, and Buddhists in the province.

Speaking in response to the campaign to green Thu Dau Mot urban area, aiming to build a green and friendly city in the period of 2024-2030 and the following years, launched by the Thu Dau Mot City Party Committee, Most Venerable Thich Hue Thong said that this is an extremely necessary task to protect the living environment at present. The Venerable called on monks, nuns, and Buddhists in the province to join hands and support Thu Dau Mot City in planting and caring for trees, increasing the area of trees at monasteries as well as around houses and residential areas, contributing to changing the appearance and creating a green, clean, and beautiful landscape environment for monasteries, the general landscape of the city and the whole province.

On this occasion, the Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee presented nearly 3,000 seedlings to the Buddhist Sanghas of 9 districts and cities to continue planting, protecting the living environment. Delegates attending the program planted trees in the grounds of the Nirvana Buddha Statue Cultural Center - Hoi Khanh Pagoda.
