Bringing spring to disadvantaged students

When Tet is approaching, many schools in Thuan An city have charitable and practical sharing activities for poor students. These days, teachers and students of Trinh Hoai Duc High School are busy preparing stages and calling for the support of benefactors to organize the 13th "Night of Love" to raise funds for school scholarships for disadvantaged students of the school in the school year of 2022-2023.

Teacher Quach Duc Thinh – the Principal of Trinh Hoai Duc High School, said: “’Night of love’ is a cultural program with noble and humanistic meaning organized annually by the school. This year, the music night will take the theme of "Love returns" and is scheduled to be held on the evening of January 14, 2023. Hopefully the program will receive everyone's support to join hands to light up the dreams for disadvantaged students to step firmly into a brighter future."

In the joyful and warm atmosphere of the approaching Lunar New Year, 500 disadvantaged students in the province excitedly went to receive the scholarship of the Association for the Sponsoring of People with Disabilities and Orphans and poor patients in the province in cooperation with Dong Binh Duong Branch of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam to give away gifts. Sitting in the back row, Nguyen Van Hai, a native of Nghe An province, quietly waited for his son to return to receive the gifts. Hai said that he worked as a bricklayer and his wife worked as a worker for a garment company in Thu Dau Mot city. Recently, their jobs became precarious, so life was quite hard when they had to take care of the two children. “I am very happy that my child is given the opportunity to receive this scholarship by the school as well as the organization. I use this money to buy some more missing school supplies and some new clothes for the upcoming New Year," said Hai.

With eyes shining with joy on receiving the scholarship, Doan Ho Quynh Anh from Vinh Tan ward of Tan Uyen town confided: “I am very happy to receive gifts on holidays like this. I feel very happy and warm. The money will be used to buy more clothes and books for studying. The attention and support of the school, teachers and everyone is the motivation for me to try harder in learning and training."

A new spring comes with the joyful smiles and bright eyes of the poor and studious students when receiving the attention and encouragement of organizations and individuals to add warmth and make their springtime more colorful, complete and happy as a great source of encouragement for them to continue to strive to overcome all obstacles and firmly at school.

Teachers' warm Tet

Not only students, immigrant teachers with difficult circumstances in the province this year will also enjoy a joyful and warm Tet holiday. With the goal of "not letting any teachers go without Tet", the provincial Trade Union of Education and Training sector has been making efforts to organize activities to take care and support teachers in difficult circumstances to help them welcome a warm Tet.

Do Ha The Binh - Chairman of the provincial Trade Union of Education and Training sector, said: “In order to timely support immigrant teachers in difficulties and those with serious diseases to celebrate spring and Tet holidays, the trade union demanded grassroots unions to review and make lists of the most affected teachers to help. Although each gift is not much, we hope that this will be a sharing, contributing to more joy for teachers and students in hard times to enjoy the spring and celebrate Tet with warmth and gratitude."

Specifically, the provincial Trade Union of Education and Training sector will organize the program of "Tet reunion - Spring of peace" to visit, give gifts and wish New Year's greetings to officials and teachers from outside the province who do not return to their hometown to celebrate Tet and teachers who have been in the Tet holiday in harsh situations. It is expected that the Trade Union of the Education and Training sector will give away about 600-700 gifts to help the staff and teachers who are far from home during Tet. Depending on the level of each case, the highest amounts of support is VND 2 million a package and the lowest VND 500,000. Currently, Trade Unions at all levels in the education and training sector have surveyed, researched and grasped the specific number of cadres, teachers and workers with difficult circumstances at educational units and institutions; at the same time, actively mobilized benefactors inside and outside the province to contribute to offer more gifts to help those in difficulties before Tet.

In addition, the Trade Union of the Education and Training sector also promotes the program of "Welfare for union members" to implement preferential programs on prices of products and services during the Tet holiday, and organizes discount booths for staff, teachers and employees with difficult circumstances of the units during the Tet holiday. Until Tet, the provincial Trade Union of Education and Training sector will organize a delegation to visit and wish New Year's greetings to retired teachers and teachers in difficult circumstances.

"Contributing the little bits into a big sum", each contribution, no matter how small, has great significance in encouraging and helping thousands of teachers and students with difficult circumstances rise up to welcome a truly meaningful spring. And above all, the activities will help officials and employees in the education and training sector feel secure in their work to believe in the innovation of education and training, thereby, become more attached to the career.
