Talkshow on current status of provincial development model proposes solutions to determine vision, goals and roadmap for development

Today (October 21), Binh Duong provincial Party Committee and the Central Theoretical Council jointly organized a scientific workshop on "The current status of Binh Duong province’s development model and its significance in the national reform process”. The talk show is an important content in implementing the Project on "reviewing the development model of Binh Duong province in the national reform process with vision to 2050", signed by provincial Party Committee and the Central Theoretical Council in April 2022.

Preparing thoughtfully and responsibly

With the purpose of clarifying the current status of Binh Duong province's development model after 25 years of construction and development, the scientific workshop on "The current status of Binh Duong province's development model and its significance in the national reform innovation process" will focus on clarifying achievements, causes and pointing out lessons learned from the province in the national reform process. On that basis, the workshop will propose solutions and recommendations to determine the goals, strategic orientations and development roadmap of Binh Duong province to 2050. During the one-day workshop, delegates will focus on analyzing and properly assessing the situation, clarifying the province's development model, its results, shortcomings and causes from the local actual development after 25 years of construction and development.

To prepare for the workshop, the Central Theoretical Council, Binh Duong provincial Party Committee and the Steering Committee of the Project on “reviewing Binh Duong province’s development model in the national reform process with vision to 2050" and relavant units urgently implemented many important contents and tasks over the past time. In addition to research activities on special subjects to well serve the workshop, in early October 2023, representatives of the project’s Steering Committee, experts, scientists and provincial leaders organized field trips in a number of localities and units, learning about some typical models, good ways in various fields through 25 years of Binh Duong’s construction and development, especially in the fields of provincial development planning, development models of State-run enterprise and private enterprises, FDI attraction, industrial park development in association with solving social problems...

The delegation also bent on researching the models of value exploitation from land and housing development; training to attract human resources, developing high-quality human resources, developing infrastructure facilities; building and improving the local business environment, creating jobs, ensuring social welfare; making smart urban development, digital transformation...             

Creating new motivation for growth

Along with field survey activities to prepare for the workshop on "The current status of Binh Duong province’s development model and its significance in the national reform process" as well as serving the implementation of the Project on reviewing Binh Duong province’s development model in the national reform process with vision to 2050", a delegation of the Central Theoretical Council, led by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, Head of the Central Theoretical Council’s Economic Subcommittee, also had a working session with Binh Duong province to learn about the reality of the province's development model in the national reform process and its vision to 2050.  

The report at the working session emphasized that after 25 years of construction and development, Binh Duong has grown strongly and achieved great and proud achievements in all fields, creating many outstanding marks.  From an agricultural province, Binh Duong has become one of the top industrially developed provinces in the southern key economic region and the whole country. If in 1997, the province's economic scale only reached more than VND3.91 trillion. Till 2022, the figure amounted to VND 459 trillion, 117 times higher, making Binh Duong become a locality with the country’s third largest economic scale. Of these, the agricultural sector increased 14 times, industrial manufacture by 140 times and services by 152 times. The province’s GRDP per capita reached over VND 166 million per person, 28.7 times higher than in 1997. The province’s State budget revenue in 2022 was nearly VND62 trillion. Binh Duong has the third highest rate of central budget regulation in the whole country. The province's FDI attraction ranks second nationwide, after Ho Chi Minh city...

Showing his impression of the province's development, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan said that from a poor agricultural province, after nearly 30 years of development, Binh Duong has made great progress and achieved many positive results. Industrial manufacture and services have accounted for nearly 97% of the local economic structure. Binh Duong's per capita income has ranked first nationwide, with the urbanization rate reaching 84%, double the country's level. He affirmed that the above success has come from the province’s efforts in effectively exploiting its potential and location, paying attention to infrastructure investment, especially traffic infrastructure while drastically making administrative reform to improving the local investment environment and creating more favorable conditions for people and businesses. Especially, the local Party Committee and government have always been creative in implementing appropriate development strategies in each period. He said that Binh Duong's successes will be a good lesson for the Government to continue improving both theoretically and practically in the national reform cause in the coming time.

Sharing information about the province's development planning orientation with the Central Theoretical Council’s delegation, representative of the province's functional agencies said that in the new period, along with promoting and making the most of the local advantages, Binh Duong will further create growth momentum by innovating, arranging industrial belts, attracting domestic and foreign businesses, improving growth models and making economic restructuring...in association with the province's development planning orientation. Binh Duong’s development plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 includes a development model and structure, with 1 development axis, 2 ecological corridors, 3 linked belts and 5 development zones.

Accordingly, the planning for this period aims at developing Binh Duong along with other provinces and cities in the Southeastern region into an important growth motivation region of the country, promoting and spreading development to localities in the region, being one of the dynamic and comprehensive development centers, a modern industrial-service center and a sustainable urban development model under the green growth model, adapting to climate change; being a strong region in national defense - security and international economic cooperation and competition...
