Tan Cang – Song Than ICD Co., Ltd. attractive to big local companies

Update: 07-04-2010 | 00:00:00

Director of Tan Cang – Song Than ICD Co., Ltd. Colonel Cao Tien Thuan informed that the company with storing system of 160,358 square meters, now, has become a destination of famous companies of DHL, Logitem, APL Logistics, Toll-Asia, Sagawa Express, Vietfracht and manufacturers of  NIKE, GAP, Kimberly Clark, P&G, etc.

Beside the storing system, Song Than ICD has container parking lots and a 14.5-ha goods inspection site, being fully equipped with standardized unloading and loading equipments to save tiem and transportation costs.

- It is said that logistics companies in Vietnam can only offer 25% of domestic demand with partial concentration on specific fields. What is your opinion about this?

It is true that logistics in Vietnam fails to satisfy demands. This is not only an opportunity but also a challenge to enhance human forces and services. In my opinion, companies in this field should have good facilities and pricing policies to cover whole services with connection to domestic sevices. And easy transportation is the key.

Tan Cang – Song Than ICD has satisfied all the mentioned to offer best and safe storing. By the beginning of 2009, to confirm the quality of services, Tan Cang – Song Than ICD has signed services commitments and been granted ISO 9000:2008 from UK’s GIC. On this basis, Tan Cang – Song Than ICD is expected to improve and upgrade itself to become a professional third-party logistics (3PL).

It is promising when we won our bid to supply 3PL services to Kimberly Clark by January 2011, covering 20,000 square meters. The service is expected to build up first international-standard distributor of Kimberly Clark in Vietnam.

- How has transportation affected logistics development of the company?

- As a matter of fact, traffic development fails to keep up with economic development. Traffic wholy influences transportation and goods circulation because logistics must observe Just-in-time (JIT) or on schedule of contracts. Bad traffic will cause delays while logistics mission is to save time and money for enterprises.

Our company is located in relative favorable position (near industrial parks and export manufacture centers of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Dong Nai, 23km from Tan Can ports, 26km from Cat Lai ports and 72km from Cai Mep deep-water port).

However, road traffic from Cai Mep deep-water port is too narrow for tense traffic. This also affects transportation companies.

- As a leader of logistics company, what is your opinion of goods being stuck at ports? What will be your measures to resolve?

- To avoid the stuck at port, we should develop transportation on waterway with connection between ports and ICD as well as logistics enterprises. We should also maintain good pricing policies with discount or loading distribution to increase frontline loading and unloading and port rear with online registration to release the tension.

- What should be done to boost up logistics and port services in Binh Duong?

- Our company is to serve enterprises, local importers and exporters in Binh Duong to promote development of industrial zones. Being supported by parent company of Sai Gon Tan Cang, we are working on inter-cooperative business to develop the service in Binh Duong. We have proposed to conduct on-site investigation with attendence of Binh Duong province’s leaders to plan for Binh Duong port. We can succeed in promoting port services provided that the construction is assigned to us.

- Thank you!
