Tan Uyen’s Red Cross Society offers help to nearly 44,000 needy people

On August 4, Tan Uyen city’s Red Cross Society held a conference to review its activities over the past 9 months; donate scholarships to poor-but-excellent students and reward families and individuals with many achievements in voluntary blood donation in 2023.

Over the past 9 months, the total value of humanitarian social work, community healthcare and voluntary blood donation activities performed by the city’s Red Cross Societies at all levels was more than VND 12 billion, supporting nearly 44,000 disadvantaged people. The city’s Red Cross Society developed additional 651 new members, or 94% of the annual target, bringing the total number of members to 18,463 so far.

At the conference, 32 families and 155 individuals with achievements in voluntary blood donation from 5 to 40 times were honored and rewarded by all-level authorities.

In order to help students overcome difficulties to study well, on this occasion, the city’s Red Cross Society in collaboration with the city’s War Veterans’ Association awarded 45 scholarships to students.  It is known that each scholarship for primary and secondary-school students includes 1 VND million in cash and 10 notebooks. Each scholarship for high-school students includes VND 2 million in cash and 10 notebooks.
