Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Provincial Party Standing Member, Head of the Provincial Party Propagation and Education Committee, visits and presents gifts to families of revolution contributors in Tan Uyen City on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024.
Happy end of year
For families of individuals who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, the joy of Tet (Lunar New Year) is an unforgettable memory. Ms. Le Thi Tu, the daughter of the Vietnamese heroic mother Nguyen Thi Ruc, who is over 100 years old and resides in Phu Loi Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, shared: "Although my mother is elderly, she remains sharp. Every year, as War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27) and the Lunar New Year approach, my mother reminds me to prepare new clothes and clean the house to welcome guests.”
Ms. Tu said that in the days leading up to Tet, her family continuously received delegations of provincial, city and local leaders coming to visit, give gifts and wish them a happy new year. “Holiday gifts seem to increase in value every year, and policies are implemented with greater thoughtfulness. Our family is very grateful for the care and support provided by leaders at all levels for our mother and our family as a whole. Thanks to the thoughtful care of the local authorities, my mother is in good health and has lived a long life," said Ms. Tu.
In addition to taking good care of Vietnamese heroic mothers, all families of revolution contributors in the province have Tet gifts and receive attention from local authorities at all levels. Especially for families having difficult circumstances, every year, the Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs coordinated with units, businesses, and localities to build and repair dozens of charity houses, creating conditions for families to have a more prosperous and warm Tet. In 2024 alone, the Provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs built and repaired 45 gratitude houses for families of revolution contributors in the area, with a total cost of 2.72 billion VND.
As of now, 99.88% of individuals recognized for their meritorious services to the revolution in the province have a living standard that is average or above that of their residential area. This includes 1,193 wealthy households, 2,212 well-off households, 2,180 households with average living standards, and 7 households facing difficulties. Additionally, 100% of communes, wards, and towns have maintained their status as areas that excel in supporting war veterans, martyrs, and revolution contributors. |
Mr. Mai Thanh Binh, the son of a fallen soldier and a resident of Ho Muong hamlet in Long Tan commune, Dau Tieng district, has received a gratitude house measuring over 100 square meters. This initiative was made possible by the Provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, in collaboration with Binh Duong Lottery Company Limited.
Unable to hide his joy, Mr. Binh expressed, “Policies related to housing construction, job support, education, and business capital serve as crucial support for revolution contributors to develop their economic situations. The new house not only enables my family to stabilize our lives quickly but also holds significant meaning for us during this year's Tet holiday.”
During the Tet holiday, each commune and ward has a plan to support people with meritorious services in the area. In Thu Dau Mot City, for instance, local authorities mobilize resources to provide Tet gifts to these individuals. Additionally, the city reviews the living conditions of each family to offer essential items. Mr. Tran Thanh Liem, a 1/4 disabled veteran living in Phu Loi Ward, was deeply moved when he received an altar and several essential household items. He expressed that this initiative is a practical and highly humane effort by the city to assist the families of those who have served their country.
In Ben Cat City, ongoing efforts are made to support families of individuals with meritorious service. As the year comes to a close, a program is organized to provide essential items and Tet gifts to these families, funded by social contributions. In the various communes and wards, officials conduct assessments of each household's living conditions to ensure timely assistance.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Quoc, Chairman of the My Phuoc Ward People's Committee, reported that during a recent review, the committee identified that the household of Ms. Hoang Kim Ha, a veteran with a 1/4 disability living in Ward 1, was lacking many essential items. In response, the Ward People's Committee has mobilized social resources to procure items such as tables, chairs, beds, and wardrobes to donate to Ms. Ha's family in the coming days.
