Proactive supplies

According to statistics of the Department of Industry and Trade, currently 97 traditional markets, 11 supermarkets, 221 convenience stores and thousands of retail stores are in operation in the province meeting the consumer shopping needs. At the end of the year and the Lunar New Year, it is forecast that the total circulation of retail goods in the province will increase by about 20-30% compared to the other months of the year. According to the forecasts of retail businesses in this year as there is still concern about the epidemic, a large part of workers will not return to their hometown, so the goods supply units have been proactively planning to ensure sufficient resources to serve the market needs.

Mr. Duong Bao Khuong said that the total value of goods that Saigon Co.op prepared before, during and after Tet was about VND 6,000 billion. In particular, for the group of essential goods, besides stockpiling, the supermarket also focuses on linking and signing a memorandum of understanding with suppliers to ensure that the supplying chain is not broken in all situations. Along with that, the supermarket had a program "Tet away from home and closer" to promote many benefits for thousands of items to stimulate consumption in order to bring consumers quality goods at the most preferential prices.

Mr. Nguyen Ky Hiep also said that from October 2021, purchasing power has increased once again. To take the initiative in all situations, the supermarket has ordered more goods. Currently, the supermarket has contracted with 4 major suppliers in the groups of fresh foods, vegetables, fruits, and seafood with high reserves. Goods circulate every day and are closely regulated with the actual demand of the market. “We always ensure the source of quality products from farming to the locality and always have discounts on thousands of essential consumer goods. In particular, we do not compromise to increase prices with suppliers when the market is in a sensitive stage. Commodity prices at MM Mega Market are very stable,” said Mr. Nguyen Ky Hiep.

Mr. Pham Phu Hien, Director of Lottemart Binh Duong supermarket, said that to ensure food quality and safety, commodities on sales at the supermarket are strictly inspected and controlled. Goods must meet the requirements of a common set of standards on food safety and price stability and maintain supplies during the Lunar New Year.
