The press needs more guts

Update: 20-06-2015 | 13:41:14

That was the assertion of Mr. Pham Van Xo on his reply to interview of Binh Duong Newspaper as President of Binh Duong Provincial Association of Exportation.

Reporter: What are your evaluations of the press role in obstacle removal and information publication to support enterprises during their operations?

Mr. Pham Van Xo: On marking 90th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism (June 21), I extend my dearest wishes to the press agencies and particularly to the working reporters and journalists.

In 3 tenures as the President of Binh Duong Provincial Association of Exportation, I have been so lucky to be with Binh Duong Newspaper. Aside from obstacle removal, Binh Duong Newspaper has helped to inform reforming policies to the public and enterprise promoting competitiveness and contributing to sustainable development.

Reporter: What are your opinions and ideas so that the press can grow stronger for the time to come?

Mr. Pham Van Xo: Currently, I am President of Binh Duong Provincial Association of Exportation and a member of Vietnamese Journalist Association under Vietnam Logistics Review. Thus, I understand what issues the press agencies may confront to fulfill the duties assigned by the Party, the State and the public.

Currently, people are using not only press agencies but also many other channels for information updates. Thus, they are accessible to information more than they have ever needed. This requires the press to boost up their operations to select the information that they want to bring to the public. In the current stage and in the face of higher and higher demands of readers as well as enterprises, in my opinion, a press agency should pay attention to modernization to issue good quality products both in forms and contents. The press should offer faster information about policies of the Party and laws of the State to public and enterprise readers. Besides, they should pay attention to staff training for higher quality and socially effective articles.
