In the last days of the year, localities in the province had plans to take care of families with meritorious services to the revolution and policy families during Tet holiday. In addition to the provincial budget, the promotion of socialization to take care of policy beneficiaries is increasingly performed to help every family have a joyful and meaningful Tet holiday.
Provincial Department of Labor and Invalids & Social Affairs cooperates with Binh Duong MEDIC General Hospital to provide free medical examination for policy families.
Take care of both physical and mental health
Every year, when the spring comes, policy families in the province welcome new joys brought by authorities at all levels. Besides many gifts of the province, communes, wards and townships also well prepare for this occasion.
On New Year's Day, the house of Vietnamese heroic mother Nguyen Thi Ruc (98 years old, Phu Loi ward, Thu Dau Mot city) is always crowded with guests from the province to the local ward. In those cozy vibes, the mother seems to be given more motivation and energy to live happily and healthily with her children and grandchildren. Although her memory is no longer clear due to old age, in her memory, she always remembers heroic years of the resistance wars.
She said: "On New Year's Day, I always receive many gifts so that I couldn't use them all and present them to my children. Everytime I’m sick, local government takes care of everything, I just want to live a few more years to see my grandchildren grow up, the homeland renewed.
In addition to gifts funded by the provincial budget and local authorities, the socialization to take care of policy families is increasingly replicated.
For example, this year, Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs cooperated with MEDIC Binh Duong General Hospital to organize free health checks for 1,728 policy groups, with total cost of more than 2 billion VND; Provincial Fatherland Front Committee in collaboration with Provincial Social Insurance and localities mobilized to donate tens of thousands of health insurance cards to policy households, poor households, and disadvantaged households in the province to help them have better conditions for medical examination and treatment.
Nguyen Ngoc Hang, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, said: “Attending to policy families is a meaningful work to show gratitude to all people with meritorious services to the national revolution. This work will be boosted by the department in coordination with authorities at all levels in the province in the coming years. We take care of both the material and the spiritual lives of policy families with the desire to help them have a better life”.
In the past two years, when the Covid-19 hit everywhere, despite difficulties, the work of taking care of people's lives as well as policy families’ lives was thoughtfully performed by the authorities in the province.
The province is determined not to let any family, including policy families, to be in shortage of food and neccessites. If they are unfortunately infected with the disease, had to go to treatment and quarantine, policy beneficiaries receive great care and support through policy support packages from the Central to local levels.
In provincial localities, attending to policy families has been done more thoughtfully. Localities also expand beneficiary groups, such as worshipers of Vietnamese heroic mothers, worshipers of martyrs, contributors who enjoy one-time allowance...
Le Huynh Le, Head of North Tan Uyen District Office of Labor and Invalids & Social Affairs, said: “The district is managing records of 2,464 policy beneficiaries. To help policy families have a stable life, the district has implemented some solutions, such as building houses, giving savings books, health insurance cards, creating jobs, and granting loans for production and business development”.
Meaningful Tet gifts
The whole province currently has over 64,000 people who have been recognized and given preferential treatment for people with meritorious services to the revolution. Depending on the target group, the province has a corresponding level of spending on Tet gifts.
According to Department of Labour, Invalids & Social Affairs, based on the proposal of localities about spending on Tet gifts for people with meritorious services and policy families every year, the department has submitted a plan to provincial leaders. After the plan is approved, the department will quickly deploy it to localities, gaurantee to carefully organize Tet-caring activities for policy families.
Besides, by local funding, policy families will receive corresponding gifts. Nguyen Van Nam, Head of Thuan An City Office of Labor, Invalids & Social Affairs, said: “Especially for policy beneficiaries, the city has about 40 households receiving Tet gifts financed by the provincial budget, worth VND3 million each.
Also, the city budget paid out to present gifts to policy families. At commune and ward levels, they will mobilize contributions to perform Tet caring activities, depending on the number of policy families and funding sources.
Lai Thai Hoa, Vice Chairman of Phu Loi Ward People's Committee (Thu Dau Mot City), said: “Our ward has called on businesses, units and individuals to make donations to give enough Tet gifts to policy groups in the area, up to 450 gifts.
However, this year, many workers seem to stay in Binh Duong during Tet, hence the ward will mobilize more gifts for this group. In addition, the ward will give gifts to policy families and heroic Vietnamese mothers as an activity on every New Year.”
In recent years, joining hands to take care of policy families has also been widely carried out by mass organizations and individuals across the province. Not only on Tet festival but also all major national holidays all year round, provincial leaders and local authorities always take care of policy families by valuable gifts both materially and spiritually. All these activities clearly demonstrate the tradition of expressing gratitude, remembering the source when drinking water.
During the Lunar New Year 2022, the province visited and gave Tet gifts to more than 44,000 people with meritorious services to the revolution, with a total expenditure of more than 45 billion VND. Accordingly, the highest level is 4 million VND/gift and the lowest is 1.3 million VND/gift.
