To contribute both academic and practical experiences to science city construction

Morning of October 12th, Provincial Department of Science and Technology collaborated with Institute for Science, Technology and Innovation - Ministry of Science and Technology to organize a forum on "Regional innovation system and urban cities". This was a thematic session of Global Innovation Forum 2018. Attending the seminar were Mai Hung Dung, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, and nearly 100 delegates who are speakers, managers and scientists from inside and outside the country.

To open the forum, Nguyen Ngoc Song, Deputy Director of Institute for Science and Technology and Innovation, emphasized that the forum aimed to enhance the innovation of culture on the basis of technology, to contribute on sustainable development by narrowing the gap between developed and developing countries. With the participation of prestigious speakers, the seminar contributed both academic as well as practical experiences to building an innovation system, creativity ecology, smart and science cities.

At the forum, the speakers discussed five issues: regional innovation ecological system and science cities; the role of universities and Maker Space in promoting innovation in Vietnam; Potential of innovative start-ups participating in smart urban construction; Hi-tech park of Ho Chi Minh City in the promotion of regional innovation and innovation at scientific technological organizations and enterprises in the era of smartness. These were groundbreaking and practical contents that help us to look at smart city issues more fundamentally from the perspective of building and upgrading the innovation system, while revising basic entities, institutions of the innovation system such as real space, start-up ecosystem, science and technology enterprises.
