To help workers buy good, cheap products
Quach Thu Nguyet, a worker of Star Wood Furniture Company (Tan Uyen Town), said that she and her colleagues regularly placed orders mainly for necessities from welfare units and businesses, because the products were sold at discounted prices but had quality assurance and were branded. Thanks to these discounted purchases, they also save a lot of money every month.
Le Minh Hoang, Vice Chairman of Labor Confederation of Tan Uyen Town, said that the unit coordinated with Dong Hwa Company, Greencos Vietnam Company, Vinafood Food Company, Energy Technology Industry Company to carry out a welfare program to sell goods with discounted prices by 5-40% for members and workers. Particularly, the Town Labor Confederation directly held a program named "Welfare sales - For the benefit of members and workers" at places where there are large numbers of worker living and working in; the program had many booths selling fish sauce, soy sauce, rice, cooking oil, sugar, laundry detergent ...
"The units and businesses providing products for the member welfare program were carefully selected by the Town Labor Confederation, must meet some criteria of products, such as quality assurance, prestigious brands, warranty policies, customer care policies... This program has helped union members and workers to buy good products with cheaper prices, helped them save costs, improve living standards", said Le Minh Hoang.
Similarly, Tran Hoang Phat, Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Hariki Precision Vietnam Company (Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park 1), said that in addition to welfare programs for members and workers, the grassroots trade union also regularly buys necessities including fish sauce, soy sauce, rice, cooking oil, sugar... to present to members and workers. The price of products sold by their welfare units and businesses is always lower than the market price, so it helps workers save a spending amount every month.
Dang Thi Kim Chi, President of VSIP Trade Union, said that VSIP Trade Union had implemented and maintained effectively welfare programs, in which hundreds of thousands of trade union members and workers have been benefited. Particularly in 2021, more than 70,000 members and workers bought necessities at discounted prices by up to 40% from units and businesses.
A large number of workers benefited
"In order to contribute to taking care of members and workers, especially during the covid-19 and rising price period, the Provincial Labor Confederation actively worked with units and businesses in and outside the province to negotiate, sign agreements to provide essential for workers at the best discounted price; at the same time, guaranteed that workers buy good products as well as experience services at preferential prices. This activity contributed to improving the value of welfare, taking care of material and spiritual life of trade union members and workers," said Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, Vice President of the Provincial Labor Confederation.
Up to now, the Provincial Labor Confederation has signed agreements with 60 welfare units, including Dr Marie Company, Dutch Dairy Company, Wincommerc Service and Trading Joint Stock Company (Vinmart Supermarket), Kim Sáng Rice Company... All units and businesses participating in the welfare programs are committed to selling at preferential prices, guarantee good quality, for example, household items with discounts 5-40%; necessities with discounts 10-35%; frozen food products with discounts 10-30%; cosmetics 10-20%.
In particular, due to the severe impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, 100% of grassroots trade unions have implemented welfare programs for trade unionists and workers. In 2021, more than 362,000 union members and workers experienced benefits from the welfare programs worth over VND 33.5 billion. In addition, units and businesses implemented special discount support programs 20-40% for trade union members and workers having difficult circumstances on occasion of the Lunar New Year 2022.
Previously, in 2018 and 2019, more than 312,000 members and workers used partners' products and services, the value of benefits was nearly VND12 billion. In 2020, nearly 400,000 members and workers will benefit from the programs, the value of which will be over VND 10 billion.
