Trade and services gets towards high quality in Ben Cat town

In recent years, along with promoting strengths in industrial production, Ben Cat town also focuses on exploiting available potentials and strengths and calling for investment attraction to develop trade and services in the area; thereon contributing to economic restructuring and gradually improving the living standards of local people.

High growth rate

During the 2016-2020, the town Party Committee and People's Committee of Ben Cat town directed and mobilized a lot of investment resources from all economic sectors to develop an important service infrastructure system to gradually respond to the increasing needs of people, businesses and investors. The economic development rate of the town continuously increased as the average annual growth reached 23.5%, the structure shifted in accordance with the set orientation of industry 75.45%, services 24.2%, and agriculture 0.34%; GDP per capita reached VND 140 million a year. In which, the total value of the service industry in the past 5 years reached nearly VND 129,000 billion, an increase of nearly 4 times compared to 2010-2015, and an average annual increase of 30.9%. The local trade and services have a favorable development trend, mainly focusing on the fields of finance, banking, commerce, post and telecommunications, transportation, housing, industrial services, etc.

According to the leadership of Ben Cat town, and thanks to the implementation of appropriate and effective solutions to develop trade and services, in recent years, the field has developed strongly to meet the needs of production, daily life, and consumption by businesses and people. Up to now, the infrastructure of trade and services in the area has been invested to and upgraded, thanks to which, the quality of services has been improved, and the types of services have developed rapidly and become increasingly rich and diverse with the participation of many economic sectors. Along with that, the management and control of the market was also directed by the town to perform well, thereby, promptly handle violations, contributing to stabilization of the commodity market in the area. In 2021, the total retail sales of goods and services reached nearly VND 49,000 billion while 1,841 households have been granted business registration certificates of a total capital of over VND 696 billion, bringing the total number of individual business households in the area to 34,254 households with a total registered capital of nearly VND 7,650 billion.

Ben Cat town is located in the key economic zone of Binh Duong with 2 large rivers of Saigon and Thi Tinh, which is convenient for river transportation and potential for port development and eco-tourism. Industry thrived to form 8 industrial parks that are operating stably as the agriculture is shifting towards high technology, and people's living standards are increasing to contribute to the development of the services. Along with that, the number of workers outside the province is high as the demand for housing increases to promote the rapid development of services of rental housing, social housing, and residential areas.

On the other hand, the planning, adjustment and implementation of the planning and the work of site clearance and public investment are concerned and implemented effectively. Technical facilities and infrastructure are promoted in the right direction; trade and service infrastructure develops in a synchronous direction associated with the process of urban development. The application of science and technology, especially information technology makes service quality increasingly improved. Logistics and all types of passenger transport thrive; the transport system is synchronously invested, contributing to the effective construction of new rural areas and civilized cities.

Quality improved

Ms. Le Thi Kim Lien, Deputy Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Ben Cat town, said that in recent years, the speed of urbanization, industrialization and modernization in the area has rapidly taken place. The town has attracted many investors to production and business operations, and at the same time, created jobs for nearly 180,000 workers inside and outside the locality. The fact requires that all types of trade and services in the area should develop commensurately.

In order to bring the commerce and service sector to develop commensurately with the potentials and advantages of the locality, the town is actively promoting investments and calling for businesses, economic sectors and individuals to invest in developing the field of trade and services in a synchronous and modern direction. Ben Cat town Party Committee issued Plan No. 50 on the deployment and development of high-quality services in 2021-2025 with an orientation to 2025-2030 and with vision to 2040. The plan has the overall goal of continuing to accelerate sustainable economic growth rate. Industrial development is associated with the task of urban development, services, and improvement of labor productivity to ensure social security and welfare, improve people's lives in association with caring, build and develop people in the direction of civilization and progress, improve the efficiency of environmental protection, maintain political security, and ensure social order and safety.

Ms. Le Thi Kim Lien said that to meet such demand, the town has synchronously implemented solutions to develop trade and services. The town shall review and plan the space and land fund in order to serve the development of high-quality services. In which, it mobilizes resources and economic sectors in the society to continue investing to create development steps in socio-economic infrastructure, and to encourage the implementation of new urban areas, residential areas, commercial houses and high-rise buildings according to regulations. On the other hand, a favorable environment is created to promote the development of service industries serving the process of industrialization and urbanization of the town. At the same time, it develops science, technology, information and communication services as the foundation for the development of digital government and digital economy in association with the Innovation Zone in the town. The social security services are developed in the direction of depth and high quality.

Along with that, the town continues to carry out the tasks of solutions to develop high-quality services set out for industrial and urban development in Binh Duong province in Program No. 24 of the provincial Party Committee. High-quality tourism development programs and projects are effectively implement; at the same time, international cooperation is strengthened and expanded in association with building investment attraction mechanisms for each service sub-sector in order to create spillover and improve the quality of other services. Housing is developed in the direction of modern urban construction in accordance with the planning and to meet the diverse needs of all classes of people. The construction of detached houses, condominiums, social houses, rental houses and motels are harmoniously combined in association with speeding up the repair of spontaneous housing zones and spots to ensure stable accommodation and security and convenience for everyone including low-income ones. A program is formulated to develop services that meet the essential needs of workers in industrial parks and clusters in order to attract and retain workers, and to meet requirements for industrial development.
