Vietnam leads in setting vision for Mekong region

On the evening of November 24, provincial People’s Committee grandly held a party in celebration of the Horasis Asia Meeting 2019 with the theme of “Vietnam leads in setting a vision for the Mekong region”.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue; Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Nguyen Manh Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council of Binh Thuan province; Ho Quoc Dung, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh province; Dr.Fank-Jurgen Richter, Chairman of Horasis.

In the context of extensive globalization, international and regional integration, Vietnam has been striving with countries in the Mekong River Subregion to build up a prosperous, integrated and equitable subregion. These countries are working together to set a development strategy for the Mekong River Basin between 2021 and 2030; have close coordination in various fields such as infrastructure construction, trade development, tourism, environmental protection and human resource development; simultaneously boost win-win cooperation in economic development.

Binh Duong has made efforts in strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation in various fields, aiming to promote socio-economic development, increase integration and competitiveness in the international arena. Accompanying the transformation of Asia and the world, the province is carrying out a project on Binh Duong smart city development to 2021 with vision to 2030, one of the local breakthrough programs in socio-economic development, step by step enhancing its scale to the region and the world.

The Horasis Asia Meeting 2019 is a major event in a series of the “Binh Duong smart city 2019” events, including the 15^th international scientific seminar on Asian urbanization, the opening of some works in association with science-technology of the province, especially the opening ceremony of the World Trade Center Binh Duong New City, aiming to further create new breakthroughs in socio-economic development in the coming time.

Addressing the event, Mr.Nam stressed: “I hope that with the theme of “Vision of the Mekong region”, the Horasis Asia Meeting 2019’s plenary session tonight will bring delegates a multi-dimensional perspective on Vietnam, a country actively integratin, making more and more contributions to the region and the world; and on Binh Duong, a dynamic, creative and developing province. As the co-chair of the Horasis Asia Meeting 2019, Binh Duong, through this event, want to have an opportunity for win-win cooperation with partners in the region and around the world in order to make socio-economic development, implement the Binh Duong smart city project and build up a Binh Duong city with sustainable and fast development in the future.

For his part, Dr. Fank-Jurgen Richter, Chairman of Horasis also thanked provincial leaders for their efforts in co-organizing the Horasis Asia Meeting 2019. He emphasized that Asia is a place with centers and cooperation interference. Horasis is seen as a message sent to Asia now being a motivation for development in the new region. “We are the symbol of globalization and free trade”, added he.
