Vietnamese-German University starts new school year

On November 21, Vietnamese-German University solemnly held the opening ceremony of the new school year 2023-2024, celebrated the 15th anniversary of the school; celebrated the 41st anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2023). The ceremony was attended by Nguyen Thien Nhan, former Politburo member, former Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Van Phuc, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Chairman of the Council of Vietnamese-German University; Dr. Josefine Wallat, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City. On the side of Binh Duong province, there was Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council.

Vietnamese-German University was established in 2008. The school has now 2,700 students studying 7 undergraduate training programs and 10 master's training programs. According to the development orientation, by 2030 the school would have 6,000 students, creating new breakthroughs in the academic partnership between Asia and Europe.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Van Phuc affirmed that the establishment of Vietnamese-German University plays a very important role in promoting higher education reform and improving the quality of national education in research and teaching, developing skilled and highly qualified human resources. This helps ensure Vietnam's sustainable development in the globalization and regional economic integration.

At the ceremony, Vietnamese-German University awarded scholarships to students, trainees, individuals and groups who have made contributions to the school's activities. The total value of scholarships awarded each year is up to 16.5 billion VND. On this occasion, the school honored lecturers and staff who made many contributions during 15 years of development; awarded outstanding officers, staff, and lecturers in the 2022-2023 school year on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20).
