“Weekend playground” model gives practical care for young workers

The Youth Union of Binh Thang ward in Di An town has held a “weekend playground” model at the entertainment demand of young workers at lodging facilities. The model has contributed to uniting and gathering the local young workers.

The Youth Union of Binh Thang ward now has 8 sub-unions for young workers at lodging facilities. To grasp young workers’ demand for entertainment after working hours, the Youth Union of the ward has set up a “weekend playground” model, which is organized twice a month with such practical activities as art performance exchanges, contests on great holidays, games, law dissemination…All the contents of the model have helped young workers herein raise their awareness of the law and get more experience in daily life.

Along with this, the Youth Union of the ward has coordinated with sectors, departments and mass organizations to organize “weekend playground” programs with larger scale to serve young workers, namely contests on cooking; karaoke singing, environment, traffic safety; football, volleyball and cross-country run tournaments...

With attractive programs, the model has absorbed numerous young workers. On Tet and great holidays, the Youth Union of the ward has regularly teamed up with the local Women’s Union to present gifts to young and female workers at lodging facilities with difficult circumstances.

Nguyen Thi Hong, member of Binh Chanh ward’s sub-union for lodging young workers said that they have felt very joyful when taking part in “weekend playground” programs with interesting entertainment activities.  Besides, they have had a chance to be able to learn about the law.

According to Tran Nguyen Bich Duyen, Secretary of Binh Thang ward’s Youth Union, the ward’s Youth Union will strive to mobilize financial resources and change contents of the model in order to further promote it. The model has also received enthusiastic response from Youth Union members and proprietors. Through it, the ward’s Youth Union has partially taken care of young workers at lodging facilities. In the coming time, the ward’s Youth Union will further organize a lot of more practical models in order to improve the spiritual life of the local young workers…
