Youth and grateful month

July is always the peak month of “When drinking water, remember its source”, “paying debt of gratitude” activities. They are annually organized by young people in Binh Duong province, aiming to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for national independence and freedom and consolidating patriotic spirit among young people from all strata.

In July, provincial Youth Union Standing Committee has always attached special importance to instructing its branches to organize a peak week on “paying debt of gratitude” activities. Accordingly, the local Youth Union branches will get involved in such meaningful activities as taking care of heroic Vietnamese mothers, policy beneficiary families, upgrading martyrs’ tombs, exchanging with war veterans, visiting historical relic sites, cleaning up monuments…As planned, each Youth Union branch will realize at least such 3 activities.

Many models “When drinking water, remember its source” have also been implemented very significantly.  The project of “Paying tribute to heroic Vietnamese months” is a typical example for this. It is jointly realized by provincial Young Physicians’ Society and My Phuoc hospital in Ben Cat town. Accordingly, the two units have held delegations to provide free medical check-up and medicine for heroic Vietnamese mothers in the province. My Phuoc hospital has also pledged to give healthcare for the mothers if necessary.

The project is organized by the local Youth Union branches at all levels through visiting, presenting gifts to heroic Vietnamese mothers. Over the past five years, provincial Youth Union and its branches carried out 200 days taking care of heroic Vietnamese mothers and policy beneficiary families; organized more than 350 exchange programs with war veterans; made youth works cleaning up 10,370 tombs…

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Xuan, Secretary of provincial Youth Union said that during the summer youth summer campaign 2018, July will focus on “paying debt of gratitude” activities. Provincial Youth Federation will coordinate with provincial Young Physicians’ Society and Young Entrepreneurs’ Society to organize a journey “Following the footsteps of heroes” and a festival for volunteer entrepreneurs in main communes on new rural construction in association with activities in celebration of the 71st anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day. Provincial Youth Federation will also hold a “compassionate bus” program providing medical check-up and medicine for heroic Vietnamese mothers, policy beneficiary families while mobilizing organizations, individuals to build at least one house of compassion and organize a program providing free medical check-up, medicine for policy beneficiary families in Phu Giao district’s An Long commune and Tay Ninh province’s Duong Minh Chau district.

Also according to Mrs.Xuan, the Youth Union branches of districts, towns and TDM city will organize candle-burning ceremonies to pay tribute to martyrs at martyrs’ cemeteries. 100% of Youth Union branches in communes, wards and townships will realize practical activities to take care of policy beneficiary families, heroic Vietnamese mothers…

Especially, “When drinking water, remember its source” activities will be launched among workers. Do Van Phung, Director of provincial Support Center for Young Workers said: “In July, the center will organize journeys “connecting young workers”, realize social activities and visit “red addresses” to learn about revolutionary history, thereby holding “paying debt of gratitude” activities to enhance the effectiveness of traditional education among workers”.
