Breakthrough way of Binh Duong’s agriculture

Part 1: From policies

Since being re-established, Binh Duong has reached robust growth in agricultural production. The province has attaches special importance to carrying out policies on hi-tech agricultural development, contributing to shifting the local agricultural structure towards modernity.

Appropriate policies issued

Along with industrial development, Binh Duong has boosted the local agricultural production right after being re-established in 1997. In the period of 1997-2005, provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development transferred sci-tech advancements together with many varieties of hi-yield plants and animals for farmers, contributing to supplying materials for industrial production and export. The province also paid attention to realizing agricultural promotion policies for farmers.

Production of An Thai hi-tech agricultural park in Phu Giao district

One of the local agricultural sector’s breakthroughs was the issuance of a Project on hi-tech agriculture for the period of 2007-2010 under provincial People’s Committee’s Decision No.1013/QD-UBND dated February 15, 2007. Tran Thi Kim Van, former Vice-Chairwoman of provincial People’s Council said that the Decision No.1013 was seen as the start of the local hi-tech agriculture. Noticeably, An Thai hi-tech agricultural park invested by U&I Agricultural Joint Stock Company was formed up in 2008 in Phu Giao district’s An Thai commune.

Implementing the Resolution No.26/NQ-TW of the 7th session of the 10th Party Central Committee on agriculture, farmers and rural areas, provincial Party Committee promulgated a Program No.26-Ctr/TU on “Making the shift of Binh Duong’s agricultural structure towards urban and hi-tech agricultural models in association with processing industry for the period of 2011-2015”. The program also helped the local agricultural sector further shift towards goods production with hi-value and effectiveness. Perennial trees and animal husbandry continue being a strong point of the local agricultural sector.

Along with this, provincial People’s Committee’s Decision No.46/2012/QD-UBND dated October 17, 2012 on solutions and policies to promote urban, hi-tech and ecological agricultural models in association with processing industry for the period of 2012-2015 facilitated the local hi-tech agricultural development over the past time…

Soon forming up hi-tech agricultural parks

Pham Van Bong, Vice-Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that through the above programs and projects, the province saw an increase in the number of urban and hi-tech agricultural models.

Among province-based hi-tech agricultural models, An Thai hi-tech agricultural park of 411.75 hectares s the most noticeable. At a meeting stating the planning for building An Thai hi-tech agricultural park held in April 2009, Mai Huu Tin, General Director of U&I Investment Joint Stock Company affirmed that constructing the hi-tech agricultural park will contribute to promoting the agriculture sector of Binh Duong and reshaping the rural image of An Thai commune while creating a brand name for agricultural products of the province at the demand for consumption of people in and out of the province.

In 2008, provincial People’s Committee also approved two other hi-tech agricultural parks, including Tien Hung hi-tech agricultural park in North Tan Uyen district’s Hieu Liem commune with 89.95 hectares and a hi-tech milk cow breeding park in 2 communes of Tan Hiep and Phuoc Sang with 471 hectares. In addition, the whole province now has a hi-tech concentrated animal husbandry area with 380,000 heads of cattle and 3.2 million heads of poultry…

Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee asserted that the province’s effort in being proactive to form up specialized cultivation areas in line with each locality, farm economic, urban and hi-tech agricultural models have brought hi-economic efficiency. Till now, the whole province has implemented 4 hi-tech agricultural parks with a total area of more than 991 hectares and a total investment capital of more than VND900billion.
