Part 2: Upholding efficiency

Under the shift of agricultural structure towards modernity in association with processing industry, urban and hi-tech agricultural production, Binh Duong has formed up some hi-tech agricultural parks with their efficiency upheld. Their success has also promoted hi-tech application among cultivation and animal husbandry farms in the province.

Models with hi-economic efficiency

Among province-based hi-tech agricultural parks, An Thai hi-tech agricultural park invested by U&I Agricultural Joint Stock Company (Unifarm) in Phu Giao district’s An Thai commune is the most noticeable. This is seen as a vanguard model in the program on changing and developing the province’s agricultural sector. Covering 411.75 hectares, it is divided into many sections, in which there are more than 380 hectares for growing various fruit trees like pomelo, lemon, orange…

Among the 340 hectares of various fruit trees, there are 180 hectares of bananas planted under Japanese standards and 140 hectares of citrus trees under VietGap’s standards.

Thanks to its sci-tech application in production together with appropriate process, An Thai hi-tech agricultural park has brought hi-economic efficiency to Unifarm. Particularly, with 3 hectares of rock melons, it helps Unifarm secure the average income of VND3billion per hectare per year and the average profit of VND1.5billion per hectare per year. Unifarm also obtains the average income of VND400million per hectare per year and the average profit of VND200million per hectare per year from 7 hectares of aubergines…

In terms of animal husbandry, Ba Huan hi-tech animal husbandry farm invested by Ba Huan Co.Ltd. in Tan Uyen town’s Vinh Tan commune with 17.6 hectares in total is appreciated as one of the province’s modern animal husbandry farms. With advanced technologies from the U.S, Holland…, the farm now has 24,000 breeding chickens and 401,000 mother chickens. Every day, it supplies the market 200,000 clean eggs.

Mai Hoang Lien orchid farm of Mai Quoc Thai with a total area of more than 4 hectares in Dau Tieng district’s Minh Hoa commune is also one of the province’s typical hi-tech agricultural models. With an automatic watering system worth billions of dong, the farm has been so far expanded to more than 4 hectares with 750,000 pots of orchid. Its annual income is estimated at around VND2billion.

Strong pervasion

The province is now home to more than 900 farms, mainly in Dau Tieng district with 281, Phu Giao with 189, North Tan Uyen with 121…Among them, there are many with hi-tech application in production. For example, Phu Giao district has 33 hi-tech models on cultivation and 45 ones on animal husbandry; Bau Bang with 70 hi-tech models on animal husbandry and 9 ones on cultivation.

Le Khac Tri, Chairman of Bau Bang district’s People’s Committee said that under the district’s policy in agricultural development, many local farms and households have applied sci-tech advancements into production. Along with large-scale farms, namely Thanh Thuy, Chin Phan, Nguyen Van Tao…, with the annual income of VND1.5-VND10billion, hi-tech mushroom and orchid models… in the district have also brought farmers the annual income of VND300million-VND1billion.

In Phu Giao district, apart from Unifarm and a hi-tech dairy cow area in Phuoc Sang commune, many households have bravely applied sci-tech advancements into production with hi-tech economic efficiency. Vu Thi Hue, residing in An Binh commune’s Ca Na hamlet, said that her family spent more than VND500million on developing a rock-melon planting model with hi-tech application. Although being a new model, her rock melon garden has also lured visitors and has got orders from customers.

Thanks to hi-tech application, Nguyen Van Dep’s tomato farm in Ben Cat town’s Phu An commune is capable of reaching the average output of 150 tons per hectare per crop with the selling price of around VND15,000 per kg. Every year, he secures around VND1billion from his tomato farm.

Since implementing provincial Party Committee’s Program No.26-Ctr/TU dated September 20, 2011 on the shift of agricultural structure towards urban and hi-tech agricultural models in association with processing industry for the period of 2011-2015, the province has continued reaching stable growth in terms of agro-forestry and fishery value. Particularly, the province’s agricultural production value was more than VND3trillion in 2013; more than VND3.13trillion in 2014; more than VND3.25trillion in 2015…
