Dau Tieng with robust growth in hi-tech agriculture

To create a supply of agricultural products with good quality, Dau Tieng district has actively developed hi-tech agricultural models.

Effective models

Nguyen Nhu Ngoc residing in An Lap commune’s Dat Do hamlet in Dau Tieng district spent more than VND1.2billion on growing Taiwanese rockmelons with a total area of 4,480 square meters. On average, she can secure the annual profit of more than VND400million. This is the first hi-tech-based rockmelon growing model of the district.

Mai Quoc orchid farm

Or, Mai Quoc orchid farm in Minh Hoa commune’s Hoa Loc hamlet is also a unit leading hi-tech application in agricultural production in the district. Nguyen Tan Phuoc Vinh, owner of the farm said that he has bravely got involved in the model of dendro orchid growing on a total area of 6 hectares with hi-economic efficiency.

The farm now generates jobs for 30 laborers with the daily income of VND190,000 each. On average, Mr.Vinh can earn the annual income of more than VND4billion.

Nguyen Phuong Linh, Chairman of the district’s People’s Committee said that under the Program No.18 of the district’s Party Committee on agriculture and rural development plan, the district’s People’s Committee has opportunely implemented the detail planning of agricultural sector towards the industrial formula in association with environmental protection in line with the local real situation…

Soon removing obstacles

However, the district’s hi-tech agriculture has still faced many obstacles on loan, workforce…for change.

Although the Government has issued the Decision No.68 on preferential loans for hi-tech agricultural development, farmers find it to get access to these loans. The district is also lacking trained human resources for hi-tech agricultural development.

In a recent meeting with provincial Steering Board of Collective Economic Development, leaders of the district reported some difficulties on loan disbursement and other related issues. The Steering Board also pledged to help the district soon remove the local difficulties in hi-tech agricultural development in the coming time.

Accordingly, the Steering Board will help the district remove its obstacles in getting access to preferential loans, making technological innovation, sci-tech application in association with trade promotion, product popularization, improving efficiency in production-business and competitiveness.

The whole district is now home to 660 hectares of farming land for fruit tree growing, including 102 hectares with hi-tech application. Especially, there is an invitro banana zone of 117,08 hectares invested by Dau Tieng Rubber One-Member Co.Ltd. The company also prepares for growing 2,300 citrus fruit trees with hi-tech application. In addition, there are 216 farms on animal husbandry, comprising of 147 hi-tech ones.
