Expanded Tan Hiep water plant project inaugurated

On the morning of April 15, Binh Duong Water - Environment Joint Stock Company (Biwase) held a ceremony to inaugurate the expanded Tan Hiep water plant project.

Attending the ceremony were former Politburo member, former State President Nguyen Minh Triet;  Vo Van Minh, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Council; Nguyen Thanh Truc, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee, and former leaders of the province over periods.

The expanded Tan Hiep water plant project has the total capacity of 250,000 cubic meters per day, contributing to providing adequate water for  Binh Duong new city, Ben Cat town and surrounding areas, improving water supply service in Binh Duong new city area towards a smart and modern city. The project has a total investment of more than VND1 trillion.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Nguyen Van Thien, CEO of Biwase said that the project has received the attention and assistance of the Government, ministries, central sectors, leaders of the provincial, sectors and departments in the province. The project is completed, put into use on schedule with efficiency ensured, winning trust of sponsors, especially the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and  Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Specifically, Biwase reached an agreement and signed a loan contract of US$ 16 million co-financed by ADB and JICA on credit, not through the Government’s guarantee.

This is the first contract project for the urban infrastructure sector and social welfare without guarantee, opening a new investment inflow from international credit institutions for urban infrastructure, and social welfare in the country in general and Binh Duong province in particular.
