Five-year implementation of strategy on food safety under review

Early July 13, Dau Tieng district’s Steering Board of Food Safety held a conference to partially sum up the five-year implementation of provincial People’s Committee’s Decision No.1674/QD-UBND and extend a strategy on food safety for the period of 2017-2020, visions to 2030.

The district now has a total of 1,202 food processing and trading facilities; 241 drinking-eating facilities, 45 mass kitchens and 555 food street eateries. Over the past five years, the district’s Steering Board of Food Safety drastically instructed the local sectors and authorities at all levels to well realize a task of ensuring food safety; coordinated with functional agencies to raise public awareness of food safety…The district’s healthcare sector also organized training courses and granted certificates on food safety to 1,258 facilities or 96.3%. Whilst, the district’s Radio Station, Division of Culture and Information regularly disseminated regulations on food safety…Also during the period, the district’s functional agencies made inspection tours of 1,543 food processing and trading facilities and 2,935 food street ones. They also opportunely dealt with 41 wrong cases with a total fine of nearly VND57million.

At the conference, delegates discussed a draft plan on food safety for the period of 2017-2020 and visions to 2030. On this occasion, the district’s People’s Committee also awarded the certificates of merit to 5 outstanding collectives in realizing provincial People’s Committee’s Decision No.1674/QD-UBND.
